Warrenton Magistrate Court!

IMPORTANT INFO ABOUT CALLING: Phone calls may not be answered during these times: between 12pm-1pm & after 3:30pm. I’m sure they don’t answer between 12-1 because they’re on their lunch break, and they don’t answer after 3:30 because they are busy preparing to close at 4pm. Note, they can see exactly when you have called previously, and they can see your missed calls. Just thought this info may be helpful to someone. I would have gave 5 stars, but I don’t know this court well enough as I’m from GA. My call experience this morning was 5 stars for sure though!! When i called this morning, the clerk, or whomever answered the phone was so nice, and very helpful! She was very efficient and answered all of the questions I had! I have been told that at Fauquier Co. Gen. District Court they are short staffed, so let’s be kind and considerate of this.

Cannot attest to the level of corruption in the court or how nice or rude the clerks are, but the outside looked very nice. Built on the same ground as the original Fauquier County courthouse, this one from the late-1800s has a brilliant view over the valley below and cannot be missed while driving up the way. It gives a sense of “highest court in the land,” so that is very neat. On the grounds are a small obelisk monument to the Gray Ghost, John Singleton Mosby, whose famous Rangers led raids all over Northern Virginia and Colonel Mosby himself, an anti-slavery lawyer who fought for the South because Virginia his home state seceded he did not want them to, but felt an obligation to fight with them and practiced law in Warrenton, and is buried nearby. This monument was designed by the same designer of the Luray and Rappahannock County CSA memorials as well. The other statue is a nice one of Chief Justice John Marshall who was from Warrenton and was Chief Justice during the early years of the US Supreme Court. Would recommend stopping by here and the grounds, cheers.

I had the occasion to have to appear at the courthouse for a driving infraction. I was a bit early and found myself in a very historic building. It was a small building with a security area immediately inside the entrance. The guards there were alert and curt as they needed to be very businesslike to manage the entrance. The courtroom itself is impressive with many large portraits of older early judges, lawyers, etc that played a part in the early founding days of Warrenton and the surrounding area. Later I was able to speak with a couple of the guards who were happy to share a good deal of information about the impressive portraits and some of the artist.

The clerk of court is a terrible representative of the court and point of contact. She recently refused to answer a question that was strictly concerned with the instruction to fill out a court-related form and absolutely unrelated to any legal advice or expertise. The instruction even state that the clerk is available to answers these kind of questions, but she refused to do so. It is very discouraging when a county official refuses to do their job and treats a fellow resident like a criminal. Customer service wnd courtesy is obviously irrelevant for the Fauquier County District Court. We will consider filing and official complaint.

I got a ticket for speeding which I was arriving at the courthouse I found a place to park right next to the building. Everyone that I had contact was very polite and courteous. The Courthouse itself was a lovely historic building. The Judge was was polite and fair.

I’ve been calling repeatedly with the number provided so I can pay my ticket and NO ONE IS ANSWERING ! I’ve called 5 times listening to it ring over and over. I just want to pay my ticket

The clerks are rude even when you call on the phone to ask a question. Parking is minimal and at a distance so if you have mobility challenges it will be problematic.

Rudest staff I’ve ever felt with wouldn’t even give me the number to north western regional she could careless. This is insulting

Absolute rudest staff I have ever spoken to. Thankful I do not live anywhere near this county.
