I would love to thank WITS University for not accepting me. I am now in the number 1 university in Africa UCT, because of your unprofessionalism. I matriculated in 2022 and had the highest hopes of attending WITS University. I had imagined myself as a "WITSIE". For many years since Grade 7, I have always fancied the idea of being a student at WITS University. To me, that was the best institution to be. I managed to pass my matric with good enough marks to get me in the institution. My Aps was more than enough for the courses I wanted to study and I live in Gauteng. So it seemed like a no brainer that I would be accepted. I wish I had known how wrong I was. After my gap year in 2023, I applied. However, it seemed that my application had fallen on deaf ears. Around the time when universities were reopening I still got no response from the university regarding my application. Everytime I checked my application status on student portal, it kept on saying "awaiting". I was very confused by this as when I checked social media posts regarding WITS, I saw first year students doing things like showing off their student cards. I then called the admissions office. I have heard stories of how unprofessional the WITS admissions department is, these stories are very true. I called them multiple times and was placed on hold all those times. Whenever I would get a response, I would then be referred to another person, then another person and another until the line drops and I would have to restart the entire process. All the people who I was referred to were rude. Eventually they stopped ansering my phone calls and I would receive automated responses that told me to write emails as the admissions office was "overwhelmed". I then wrote many emails to the heads of the faculties of my aspired studies. I got only 1 response from multiple emails. The email response that I had received was incoherent and rude. The guy that responded to my email wrote an email that had so many spelling and colloquial errors that I could barely read it. He also had the audacity to imply that my aps score was not worthy of the courses I wanted to study. After all the calls and emails I still got no response and student portal still said "awaiting". I had decided to go to WITS itself to find out what exactly was wrong with my application. I went there with my mother. We were directed to Solomon Mahlangu House and we were directed to the appropriate office. The guy whom we went to lay the complaint to was not there and we had to wait. Me and my mother must have waited for him for 2 hours. When he eventually showed up, he was rude and condescenting. He was so patronizing and made the whole situation seem as if I was in the wrong. We got nothing from that meeting and I eventually decided to take the UCT offer. Which I can confidently say was the greatest decision in my life. WITS, if this is how you treat prospective students then I must say that I am extremely disappointed. Hope you do better with future students.

From the environment, to facilities, the academics, the students, the stuff, everyone is just so open-minded, willing to listen and give way to progress. You'll meet a lot of purposeful and sensible individuals here. Wits is really for good.
Amazing place, the planetarium is to die for, had a wonderful experience, the students and lecturers are very kind and polite. Really enjoyed their 100th celebration even though the school is a bit confusing since it is so huge.
A very beautiful university, top everything. Beautiful views, buildings, lively and serene, peaceful and safe with great security.
The security is rude and treats visitors like criminals. I have paid for my short course and I have to explain everyday what I'm doing on the campus when entering the main gate. The guards ask it in a rude manner and act as if they are doing me a favor by allowing me to enter.

We visited a lot of voting stations but the highlight was at WITS University, the youth turnout was astonishing - they came out in huge numbers. A humbling site to see an extremely long queue when we arrived. I went to go watch my brother play for the parktown boys band on the centenary. The place is absolutely beautiful with lots of parking. The gardens are beautiful and well attended to. There are food stalls here and very lovely people
