The Library has been under construction for a very long time now, can someone advise on when it’ll re-open? We need the library c’mon
Guys can we get the Libraries to open on weekends again, none of them are opened and we really need the service. Can something be done about this we plead. We are suffering, all the way from Soweto to CBD not even one Library is opened, we really need the service.
I was sad to travel all the way to CBD only to find out the library is under construction. The note on the fence says it's been closed since 2021 for renovations.
The Johannesburg Central Library Square is a nice place to walk around during day light but not get too far away from as areas nearby can be dangerous for visitors.
The staff are helpful but not friendly most times they serve without a smile and the security officers are all eyes open and the library its own really needed the renovation that is currently in place... As its 11.10.2022 the Library is under construction over a year or two now but nothing new outside which means lot of the work is happening inside.
It is a very beautiful place, with lots of books. It is quite a peaceful and magical place to be. Clean, and well equipped. But, I had some books I needed that they didn't have because of some members who didn't feel the need to bring them back. The computers were offline for almost the whole year on 2018, and one of the escalators was not working. But overall, it is a nice place for bookworms, with nice and helpful staff members.
Great architecture and book collections. Clean inside and ample study space. Friendly staff and security. But very noisy downstairs from the study spaces where the cleaners and security are constantly yelling at each other. No wifi eventhough the government website indicates availability of public wifi. A lot of loitering outside and damage and graffiti on the outside building and litter on the lawns. The 2012 renovations ruined the inside Italian architecture with ugly industrial design. Only two toilets available for 500 study spaces.
Great building displaying it's historical roots. Excellent collection of novels and academic books. Great variety and ample space for private and group study sessions. Library staff quite courteous and polite as well.
Gorgeous architecture, magnificent art section and tiny treasures to be found. Set aside several hours to enjoy exploring. Music section is also wonderful. The bathrooms are in dire condition though.
It's so peaceful and quiet, as for me I can't study where the is too much noise. I found that library suitable for me. It's clean and nice there's too much space. I'm in love with it
