"The Wits University Donald Gordon Medical Centre WDGMC, located in Johannesburg, Gauteng, is the first private academic hospital in South Africa. It was established when the University of the Witwatersrand bought the Kenridge Hospital in Parktown with a founding donation from the Donald Gordon Trust. In 2005 Mediclinic Southern Africa became a partner with Wits University and was also awarded the management contract.The hospital was established to create a facility in the private sector for training of sub-specialists. This training programme is part of and complementary to the existing training programmes at The Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital, Chris Hani Baragwanath and Helen Joseph hospitals."

What an amazing hospital. The security, admissions staff, nurses, cleaning staff, doctors and anesthetist are all so kind and caring. Truly feel in great hands here and so at ease. What a blessing to be at this hospital. It is clean and feels welcoming with lovely views from the rooms. Thank you everyone at Donald Gordon for your amazing care.
The nurses that work in the surgical ICU are so kind and very different from the nurses that we have encountered at other hospitals. They insure that the patient is comfortable and has clean bedding. They assist their patients with care and kindness. The hospital itself is clean and organised. My mom’s life was saved at this hospital thanks to Dr Bebington and the staff that worked with him. Grateful for the doctor and everyone that took part in taking care of my mother.

And many thanks to all other doctors Dr.Bobat, VD Schyff and medical and admin staff what made the transplant to happen and helped to be a safe journey.We very grateful to have you as our saviours. The Donald Gordon Medical Center and Hospital constitute a genuinely world class pardon the overused cliché! medical and health-care facility. Outstanding in every respect - from the excellence of the physicians to nursing care .
Goog day. Not very unppy i saw a dr who operated me as i am in several pyns and still is I have nbeen told bring in my suitcase i explain that i am in severe pains. He said i must go for sonarr i have ttle infection arroude my lewer. There i go.. Before i thid dr operadede on me gave me good serves no problem frm hospital. Give me stronger meds and there is no bed available. I am in shock who they work. At home in severe pain. How can you told bring your suitcase arrange bed but i have send home with several pain this was dr Rambaran. I am very shock regarding the service He operated on me on the first time. Know i must sever with several pains on the right side. What kind of Dr is he. Just to make money. Wish the superindent will call me
After Posting the message below, management took the correct action and remedied the situation by replacing the hearing aids - in record time. We are pleased with the outcome and regret having had to resort to this complaint. Absolutely disgusted with lack of attention by management and staff at Donald Gordon after staff threw my mother’s hearing aids out in the trash. She is a pancreatic cancer patient and was recovering from a surgical procedure. Had placed the devices for n an appropriate cup next to her bed. Have submitted a quote and been told to be patient. Have left messages for hospital manager to phone me. These have been ignored. Email reply says they are reviewing the claim. This is beyond pathetic and does not fit with Mediclinic’s mission statement.
My colonoscopy experience at Donny Gordon was not pleasurable from booking in at reception to being admitted to the day ward. Mediclinic management must also please answer the 1 star comments where very poor service was experienced.
This hospital deserve so many stars.Thanks to the nurses at the kids ward that treated me and my son like royalty when my son was admitted in hospital in May 2022.Thanks to Dr Sarah Berkenfeld and Dr Gail Faller for the best treatment for my son as I thought I'm losing my son.You gave me a different perspective in life thanks for the best treatment.And checking up on us and make sure we are okay.
The hospital is a disorganized mess . Arriving at 6am to open my file and waiting for a bed for 4 hours is unacceptable!! And the excuse is doctors were slow discharging patients? . Absolutely horrendous service
I have received excellent service and friendly greetings from the catering staff. The food is very good and the chef is open to providing you alternatives not listed on the daily menu. As for the nursing staff - this differs depending on who is supposed to be overseeing your care. Notwithstanding, complaints highlighted are addressed promptly.
