92y Residence is by far, the best place I’ve lived. The staff is spectacular and they always try their best do accommodate each resident. The facilities are always clean and having communal kitchens allows for the opportunity to meet some cool people from around the world. Many memories were created here!Rooms: 5/5
I enjoyed very much my stay at 92Y Residence. I felt cared by the superb staff who are kind and friendly, and make you feel at home. The services it provides are incredible. The room was very comfortable, quiet and with everything you needed. I recommend the residence for its excellence in every way!Rooms: 5/5
92y residence is such an amazing place located in the heart of the best city in the world, New York city. The location of the building is amazing. You have "met museum", "Gugghenaim" and central park at literally 5 minutes walking. You also have the green line at 5 minutes walking. For what concern the building, the rooms are cozy and you have everything you need inside. The bathroom and the the kitchen are big. There are a lot of wonderful events organized by Kelly the events organizer that will help you make tons of friends, because I forgot to say that this residence is full of studens, interns and young students. My time in New York city would not have been the same without 92y! Safety: The residence is really safe! there are guards 24/7 at the entrance.
This is a very good place to live. And no you don't have to be Jewish. You have to apply and be on some type of internship for at least one month. It might seem a bit expensive, but you get included Wi-Fi, excellent staff support, a superb location very safe, very clean floors and rooms, and tight security. I have a single room. You share a kitchen and restroom/toilet area. There are 4 individual showers and toilets on my floor, and I have never had to wait, and they are always clean. There is a washer and dryer on each floor, and they are $2 each. They are big ones that handle a week's work of my laundry. There are extroverts, introverts, and those in between. I just respect everyone and their privacy, and it works fine. Some like to chat, others don't, but that is cool with me. Residents can also get discounted fares on the activities that are held at the 92NY.
The 92Y Residence is a great place to stay. With events happening all the time and friendly staff, I was very comfortable for my yearlong stay. It was easier to make friends here than originally expected and I really enjoyed my large single room size!Rooms: 5/5
One of the best place to be in NYC is 92NY. 92nd Street Y, is a beacon of cultural richness and community engagement, fosters connections and creativity. Everyday is something new going on and it's full of adventure. Its unwavering commitment to enriching the cultural of its community. For me It's great opportunity to be part of 92NY residence family. Rooms: Convenient and Quiet. Nearby activities: Central Park, Cinema, Restaurants, Cafe's, Shops, Music and concert, Museums. Safety: A great safe place to be with 24hrs security guards. Walkability: less than 5min subway station to get and go anywhere you want! Food & drinks: Food& drinks are the great! Noteworthy details: The best place choose to be in NYC is 92NY!
The bedrooms are ugly, small and nothing like what they present in the photos. I was staying in a room where I had to walk a block to get to the bathroom and one time I shopped for food and they clean it every time and they threw away all my food and utensils and they didn't do it just with me, other girls too. When I went to complain they said that I had not named my things when everything had been named anyway. disgusting bathrooms. They enter the rooms without permission, a horrible experience. The only nice thing was the area.
You’re better off with an apartment. If you come here you may have struggle with: a broken kitchen sink that you share with an entire floor of women. Washing your dishes in the bathroom. Hoping it will be fixed “upon further notice”. Ineffective elevators. Rooms have grimy vents, icky corners, aggressive fluorescent lights, aging linoleum floors, slimy bathroom floors, a big shared shower room with cockroaches and minimal privacy, dead cockroaches in the hallway. Not what’s advertised on their website. Clearly not renovated since before 1970s. You can’t have friends over without paying them. I struggle to call this place home. However the mens floors are quite the opposite: clean, renovated, cozy, large kitchen with a dining table in it, showers with privacy for changing, fresh paint, book nooks. New ac vents that aren’t scary to look in… it makes me wonder… why? Just know the hard earned $1900 paid for this “experience” will get you two completely different things depending on your gender. Unfortunately for myself I am a woman, which means a whole lot less for the same $1900. To be paying this much as a broke college student feels like flushing my money down the toilet. I just wish I had known this before, I would have looked for other options aka the many apartments below this price point with none of the problems mentioned above. —> this next section is in response to 92Y. If security is going to be one of your main selling points, explain it as for over protective parents who want their children to be locked up- not for young professionals. I have had more difficulty with security and getting to my own room than needing to be guarded from someone/ something. As you said, it is the Upper East Side, after all. Last night I had the pleasure of seeing my friends who were visiting me. Upon returning I wanted to show my friends my room. Apparently that’s not allowed if it’s more than two people. Eventually we went upstairs, but not before turning their ID cards into security. We went outside and then came back in and one friend was planning to stay with me. I was happy to pay the fee for having a friend over plus the additional charge for “unexpected guests” with a smile. However, according to the security guard we had broken too many rules, so he banned my friend who doesn’t live in the USA from staying the night. Instead of protecting us, this security guard PUT US IN an unsafe situation where I had to send my friend off into the city that he didn’t know in the middle of the night to find accommodations. It’s absolutely absurd to me that despite paying an extremely high rate, I cannot have friends over to my to my room that I pay 1900 dollars a month to be “home”. Honestly I’d be happier to have a normal key door apartment. Key holes won’t be able to determine the trajectory of my lives events or charge me money to have friends over. And key holes will most certainly NOT put me and my friends in unsafe situations under the guise of “security” and “protection”.
I am very impressed by 92Y. For 3 months interning in New York, I stayed here. I felt very welcomed by the people at this center. The fitness center was completely free and convenient; the wide range of relevant talks and events are offered with generous discounts and often free; and the staffs are especially friendly and willing to help. Besides being in a safe and residential neighbourhood, this is the perfect place for students/interns looking to rent and I recommend particularly because of the staffs esp. Milton Ousland who would go lengths to help and make sure your problems are solved. They respond efficiently with 24 hour maintenance service. Every so often, they host social events with free food and celebration to get people to know each other and connect which is a generous touch. After thorough research, I would safely bet 92Y is the best accommodation in New York.
Not worth staying they are having a huge water issue it seems like! Every single week the water is being shut off and when it is turned back on the water pressure is extremely low. Can’t cook, clean, or do laundry and this has been ongoing since I moved-in in late-August! Save your money and look elsewhere they are definitely going to get an early departure from me. Very unhappy here
