Best prime rib I've had in the area. It's really the place to go if you want some good steak. She crab - 6/10 it was super salty Caesar salad - 7/10 nothing too crazy about it Prime rib - 10/10 thick juicy steak. I got the loaded mash potatoes and it was amazing. Definitely recommend it.
From walking in , to leaving after the bill , everything was above expectations. Food was not only presented beautifully but tasting just right. No seasoning needed. Temperature for everything was perfect. And everything came out at the same time and not one "missing" item or issue. The server jasmine was above and beyond what a server should be. My ONLY caveat that drops from 5 stars to 4 is the written statement on the menu board in entry-way that 20% is automatically added to the bill due to staff shortages.. I'm lost as to the relevance of the 2 things pairing together. Mind you , I tipped 40% for my experience so the issue was not that I didn't want to tip 20% but the reasoning behind them mandating it. So I spoke with a manager after my meal and he eventually stated that employees were not being properly "taken care of" so they decided to mandate the 20%. I told him everything about my visit warranted over tipping so I did and I feel bad they are not taken care of on a day to day basis but he may want to rewrite the sign so patrons are better aware and may be more inclined to over tip as I did seeing they are so short staffed and the ones who are there cooks included are still able to perform above expectations. Without question I would visit again and am not the least bit worried of a chance of a bad experience. The manager I spoke with was very professional and I could see he cared about his staff and establishment. Great place!
Absolutely astounding. This is an amazing place to celebrate any occasion. My family and I went for Mother's Day. It's probably best that you make a reservation. We did and only waited 10 minutes before sitting. The place was packed to the gills and the staff were obviously working hard to ensure all patrons were taken care of. Shoutout to our server, Amanda, who did an incredible job at out table. Now on to the food. Sheer perfection. Check the pictures with this review and your stomach will start growling with hunger. Every plate was delicious. Parking is a little challenging to figure out but that happens in this area. Definitely, 100% recommend this plate for a wonderful meal of celebration.
This steakhouse has a lot of history and character. It is very family-friendly and is a great choice to celebrate any occasion. I was invited here with a large party celebrating a retirement, and we had enough people to reserve our own room. This place has a very warm and welcoming ambiance. All the staff was friendly and attentive. I was delighted to see a happy hour on a Sunday. They have happy hour on Sunday from 12-5 PM. I was more than happy with my classic crush. I sampled some different appetizers and really liked the calamari. They serve complimentary bread and have table side wrapped sesame bread sticks and spreadable mild cheese also to enjoy. They have something on the menu for everyone. They specialize in steaks and seafood. I had the sirloin steak and fries. The steak comes out sizzling medium rare on a very hot skillet where you can continue to cook it to your own taste. I chose the Ceasars salad as an option with my entree, which covered a full plate. It's been a long time since I've last been here, but I'm still impressed with this restaurant.
This place is the best. Our waiters name was Chris, he is the best waiter I have ever had. This place is the best. You don’t know how much 1lb of cake is until it’s right in front of you. This place is family owned. I didn’t try it but they have Wagyu steak. This food was delicious. I had calamari, house salad, seafood Alfredo, can a 1lb chocolate cake. 11/10 would come again
The service and food are ALWAYS exceptional! My family has been eating here since I was a child. The seafood and steak are among the top in Hampton Roads. The she crab soup is perfectly seasoned with a healthy amount of lump crab meat as a garnish and throughout. Steaks are always perfectly prepared and the sides are a1! The drinks are reasonably priced and well prepared, they are not light on the liquor! The atmosphere is nice and you will usually get to experience a different room each time! There are plenty of private dining areas for dates all the way to dinner parties! I will always come back to AB!
The food was cooked well. But not seasoned. Crazy thing about the she crab soup it started out great but when it cooled off a bit it became watery. I asked my waitress if it was supposed to do that. She didn’t have an answer. The place was packed glad we made reservations for the Saturday evening. My girlfriend enjoyed the guy with the guitar singing happy birthday. Have suggestion that maybe have a couple waitresses and/or waiters sing happy birthday. Spent 300 bucks on an okay meal. What was the green spearmint jelly supposed to go with? We boxed everything and I fixed the taste when we got home.
I’ve lived in Hampton Roads off and on for the past 30 years and never visited Aberdeen Barn until recently. Unfortunately, I wish I hadn’t at this point. The restaurant has been around since 1966 and is very rustic and cozy while also well kept with many dining rooms that help break up the restaurant to make it a more private environment to some extent. Steak is certainly their specialty and they have 40+ day aged offerings along with standard fare. My wife and I tried out their NY strip and have to say it was excellent. The steak was nicely seasoned without going overboard and had a nice light char, letting the flavor of the steak shine along with its tenderness. The sides were equally as wonderful from the huge baked potatoes, bacon wrapped asparagus and many others. I also tried the lobster tail since we were splurging a little and it was also well prepared without being rubbery. Of course all this terrific food isn’t as good if the service isn’t there too. Our wait staff was well informed, patient, helped explain their specialities and specials. Food wasn’t left to sit and was brought out very timely. Beer was served cold in a nicely chilled glass. They have a well stocked and nicely decorated “Sportsman” bar area if you wish to partake. I’d recommend making reservations as it gets pretty busy. If you’ve never been, or visiting the area and want to try someplace unique and not a chain restaurant, this is the place to come to in Virginia Beach. It is pricy but we’ll worth your time and money if you enjoy steak as well as the many other offerings in their well thought out menu.
Had a great dinner here last night with some business partners. We got in early around 5:45p. Had the buck shuck dozen oysters which were fantastic, along with the she crab soup. I went with the prime rib 14oz portion which was plenty, and they gave me two options of horseradish which was awesome! Overall this place has a very old school look. They don’t make places like this anymore, and it’s worth the visit!
The first time I went the experience was amazing. The waitress was so friendly. The main course could have used a little seasoning but over all very delicious. The second time I went we felt rushed food was still good but the waitress was a little weird. I will definitely go back one of these days!
