Academy Sports + Outdoors

I shop here for all my fishing supplies. They generally have all that I need. The staff is friendly and always helpful. The prices are comparable to Walmart with a much better selection. Academy is light years better then the big "D" at the mall.

My wife and I were recently at Academy Sports in Gainesville, and it was one of the worst experiences of customer service that I've experienced. We walked around looking for some soccer shoes (turf shoes) for our daughter for quite a while, and couldn't find any. So, we sought out an employee for help. They were unable to help us, which was fine, so they took us to three other employees that should have been able to. Those other employees were sitting on a bench and leaning against posts chatting. They never really stopped their conversation. They just pointed in a general direction and said, "they're over there". One girl never even looked up. We will never go back to academy, and will actively tell everyone we know not to bother, and to just go to Dick's instead.

A Dick’s Sporting Goods with a different name. I don’t know what I expected from this place...prices are a bit high, and there’s almost no people. Won’t be coming back.

This is a great place to shop. I like the prices and selection they have as well as the layout of the store. You can normally get help in most of the departments fairly easily so that convenient too. The check out lines are normally quick as well. I prefer this store over any other sports store out there.
