If you are considering Advanced Auto, as opposed to Auto Zone, I hope this review serves as a red flag, flowing in the wind, cautioning you to count the cost. Bought a new battery. Car sat parked in driveway with no lights on and no chargers plugged in that would have drained the battery. My wife and I are relocating next week and had left our car at home so we could listen to the radio together and look at expensive houses. After 7 days the battery was completely dead. Wanted to make sure it wasn’t the new battery that caused any issue so I took it back to advanced auto. My wife’s dad happens to be a car-a-holic and after inspection and an all night charge, he said he would start with the battery before putting the car in a shop. Disappointing. Advanced Auto gave us the incredible news... “This battery looks good!” Thanks! It’s only been charging for the past 12 hours and made a 3 hour drive this morning.. I thought something was funny when I realized at 60mph that the car’s battery WAS working! He then told me that most cars will die after sitting 7 days... I don’t think that’s right. I do not go out of my way to leave cars sitting in the driveway. That doesn’t sound like a fun hobby to acquire but, from my experience, a full charge should make it 7 days without going fully dead. I made it clear I did not want my money back, I only asked if it were possible to swap the battery out. This is where it gets muddy. In order to be under warranty they must have a “bad battery” message on their volt meter. If your battery is dead, that does not mean it is bad. If it’s dead, they charge it. Fair enough. But I know other businesses that would entertain possible issues I could look for, instead of giving me the “Hey you look like a poor sap that has no idea about cars, let me just tell you ‘IT’S COMPUTERS!’” Well I do know computers. In fact, I have 2 of them. Why 2 stars?? Because life is too short to deal with people that want your money but not your friendship. Find a friend. I knew when I looked in his eyes that we were done. So I left and held on to my battery. Sure my car could be messed up, but I guess I’ll just have to figure it out myself. Just for a quick customer service chance, a moment of harmony, I thought I would ask an easy one. A win/win situation for us both! “My wife and I are moving to ________, could you tell me if they have an Advanced Auto?” “I don’t know.” “Cool.” Well, there you go. On my own now. Just Google it has become the new business model. Best of luck to Advanced Auto, but you might find me at Auto Zone from now on. (I like their logo better anyway)
