The place was a good vibe. The owner is very welcoming. We ordered goat pepper soup and chicken peanut soup and it was so good! I am definitely going back!
So happy that I found this place. I had a small sample of African food egusi and fufu at an event and wanted more. I tried a Nigerian restaurant near me. It was ok but not wow factor. I was on this side of town and looked up fufu and found Afrikiko. YEEEEEES! I love their Beef and egusi with fufu! Will travel for food. I'm mad at myself for buying one plate. I gavevto remember to get two to enjoy a couple of days since they are so far from me. I should probably try sometime but I get leary to spend money and not be sure. I know I like this so that's what I get. They are my spot for that meal. It's over an hr drive for me to get there from where I live but worth it! It's in an old dank strip mall, so it's basically a hole in the wall. But black folks know that's where you get the best food! Parking: Ample door parking
Soon as I stepped in the restaurant it smell like dead dogs. The man and his wife at the front were so rude they are up charging everything and give you very small containers literally side dishes. Do not eat from their kitchen looks disgusting pots on the floor mold on the ceiling I would never recommend 0/10
Food was fresh hot, and everybody was nice! Loved the Egusi w/fufu and beef!!!!
Food was not good at all… I’ve been here twice and I had there Egusi which i couldn’t even finish, because it was that bad. The fufu was old and hard not soft at all. DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE!! I placed 2 orders the first order was Fufu and vegetables I am telling you the fufu didn’t even look like fufu it might’ve been old and kept cooked in the fridge for a long time. The vegetables soup was disgusting I’ve had way better and I’m not even Nigerian. And oh as I see why Nigerians and Ghanaians always have a jollof challenge me personally I love Nigerian jollof way better especially after tasting jollof from this place smh. The goat meat and the stew had a very strange taste and the plantains was soft and oily ugh never again am I ordering from this place
Amazing food, and service, small and quaint. First time ever having authentic African food and am delighted to say it was an amazing experience and the food was awesome.Food: 5/5
Amazing food! Had the fufu and egusi soup it was gap good and came out fresh. The owners were really nice and checked in on us several times and even wrapped up our left overs.
Definitely worth the stop! Had been wanting to try some African Fufu and was NOT disappointed Got 2 Peanut Butter Soups to go one with Fish and the other with Beef. The Fish & Beef were both tender and flavorful!
Delicious food. Amazing and friendly service! And an excellent place for Ghanaian and other African dishes. This place is family owned and you can clearly perceive their delight when you're excited by your meal. I ordered waakye rice & peas with fried plantains and goat meat stew. That was absolutely delicious! One friend ordered banku and okro soup, and the other got beans and fried plantains red red. Their meals were also attractively served, and they confirmed that they were tasty and flavorful too. Check this place out for a fantastic meal experience. And when in doubt, be sure to ask your server for suggestions.
One reason I love Houston, so many humble and unassuming establishments all over the city and Afrikiko is a perfect example of that! Offering up all kinds of traditional African dishes in a clean and cared for space. We tried the okra soup with goat and fufu. The flavor was beyond, like a much better gumbo.. eating it was slightly more tricky though! The ladies working there are so sweet and special and you can tell there is a lot of love and care in this establishment. I can’t wait to go back and try some new dishes, Thank you Afrikiko!
