AKA Central Park was clean, quiet, functional, and comfortable. The service was friendly, helpful, and timely. The location was excellent for our needs - close to museums. For my budget, it was expensive, but you get what you pay for, and I'd stay there again.Rooms: 5/5
What a fantastic 9 night stay we had @ AKA Central Park!! Our family was in a spacious 75 square meter 1 bedroom suite, with a fully equipped kitchen gas kitchen + microwave too and wide living area. Note that the rooms have not been renovated recently, but they are very well maintained & super clean. All front desk staff were kind & helpful, and housekeeping was arranged exactly in the middle of our stay, so the room was well kept. Any extras like shampoo, towels, charging station needed in between were provided promptly. A big bonus for a family was the washer/dryer area on the 2nd floor, so it was easy to do laundry inhouse. And the location is unbeatable, as the aparthotel is right under Central Park!!! All in all, we were pleasantly surprised as staying in NYC is usually expensive, with not too much value for money. AKA Central Park was exactly the opposite and we enjoyed our stay there. We will definitely return in the future!!!
Stayed over a week at AKA central park. We had to be split between two rooms. Rooms were good - Carlos the night manager was super nice. Location was perfect for us. However, the issue with the 2nd room was lack of hot water. We complained every day for several days and switched to showering in the afternoon. The last morning we showered it was cold and they acknowledged the problem but refused to do anything about it. Paid almost 5 grand and they wouldn't even offer anything off the bill. Do not recommend staying here unless you enjoy cold or luke warm showers.
I thought the location was pretty convenient for my three week trip. I usually stay at the Public in the lower east side but felt I wanted more space as I'd have a lot of work and appreciated the extra space and the kitchenette to not have to eat out/order in all the time. The place I got was huge by new york standards. Furniture, bed overall standards of the one bedroom 'premium' suite was great. The kitchen was provided with a full fridge and a dishwasher as we as microwave, oven that I didn't use and enough kitchen utensils. One downside of the location, though, is its right behind the Plaza hotel on central park and it was UN General Assembly week in september so for a whole week 58th street was blocked by the police and a couple of times I had to wait before being allowed through because some bigwig diplomat or president was coming through. A pain if you're staying in midtown over that week generally but more so with the Aka Central Park. Another thing to note is that my unit no. 1202, 12th floor was in the back of the building and so had no view since it was facing another building. I did notice I was facing some kind of violin repair workshop so I could see them at work all the time I did get enough natural light in most of the day so not so bad but nothing to look at beyond. AV setup: There were two TVs in the bedroom and living room. The one in the living room was connected to the internet and the streaming services all worked but the one in the bedroom lacked connectivity for some reason. I couldn't be bothered to ask for a fix though maybe I should have just to test the service. Wifi internet was quite good most of the time though you access it through a captive portal that stays logged in throughout the three weeks so when you have devices such as an Amazon Echo or any other connected devices you'll have to find a way to connect them differently. I bought an impressive small GLI Mango router for 20 bucks off Amazon that could repeat the signal and had my smart devices all connect to it. It'll be useful for other trips I suspect. I ordered tons of packages both before I arrived and after I got there. I would collect them myself from the reception daily though they would have delivered them to the room if asked. There were two a total of three big closets with two in the living room. I felt that they could have replaced some of that space with a guest bathroom especially considering that the one main bathroom was somewhat on the smaller side. I also made use of the complimentary meeting rooms that you book online in 2 hour blocks on the 2nd floor three times during my stay. A nice unexpected perk as they're quiet and have room for about 10 people. They also have a private cinema you can book the same way but I didn't use it. Also on the 2nd floor is washing machine room with provided detergent that has about 10 machines. This seemed to be pretty heavily used I noticed though I didn't need it during my stay with the amount of clothes I'd brought. Checkout time is 11am but I managed to get a complimentary extension to 1pm that came in quite useful as I had a 7.30pm flight out of JFK and the extra time was useful for me to pack up and store my luggage with the reception. I also checked one of their 'premium' studio rooms and it was significantly smaller though it still had a little wet bar/kitchenette with a small fridge but no freezer. They apparently have a highest platinum category but I don't think that's necessary. I didn't get a chance to see the lower basic category but from the pictures they seemed to be lower standard and older.
The AKA restaurant has amazing aka burgers Service deluxe and speedy Only recommendation is food Have been in hotel
Just got here. Amazingly large fully equipped 1 bedroom apartment with cheap for NYC parking. Great location. You will not find anything like this close to Central Park for the price. We have a toddler and have a tough time in a reg hotel room. This is perfect.Rooms: 5/5
Hot water was brown, poor light in rooms. Low lighting does make it cool it makes depressing and hard to see! Shall I go on, they couldn’t keep the bedroom window closed and oh yes the thermostat either gave you high heat or air conditioning. They need to get it together. In the window of the hotel entrance they got a D rating. I now understand why. Which I knew it before I booked the room. But now you do!
Visited NYC for 2 weeks and decided to stay here as I had a good experience when I stayed here in 2021. My wife and I stayed at a 1-bedroom suite with a terrace on the 10th floor. The location is very good and close to many attractions. The service from those working here was great and they answered any questions that I had. However, I felt that there were many small problems and inconveniences that just kept piling up. Lighting - There is barely any lightning in the room. The only built-in lights were in the kitchen and toilet; everywhere else just had lamps which didn't do much. ACs - The ones in the apartment we were given are garbage. They are loud and rattle the entire time they are on. They did cool the room, but at the cost of your sanity. Water temperature - Goodluck enjoying a hot or even warm shower while here. It would take at least 10-15 minutes for the shower water to heat up if you're lucky. Also, the shower drain was clogged when we were given the room and you'd get a pool of water up to your knees when taking a 5-minute shower. However, this was fixed promptly when I contacted the service line. Window Blinds - The blinds on the windows are cutout to be exactly the size of the window and end up leaking lots of light during the day which makes it difficult to sleep-in late. Wi-Fi - Their internet speeds are decent during the day but become very slow past 7pm. Would I stay here again? I doubt it. For the price they charge per night, I would expect better facilities.
Amazing bang for the buck. Way nicer than every hotel in NYC that is $100 more per night. Great staff. Welcoming. Professional. This place is very well managed by SaraRooms: 5/5
Great place for extended stay. Their renovated rooms are better than most hotel rooms. Good linen and towels make the stay even more comfortable. This property is worth its whileRooms: 4/5
