Al Ameer

I eat middle eastern food all over Detroit and Dearborn. If you want great food and super professional service this is the place to go. The plates are large so beware that you don't order to much food. This place also passes the grandmother test. If i see someone from the region the food represents taking their grandmother there i know the food must be good. If it's good enough for grandma it's good enough for me.

The only reason why I gave a three-star is because the prices are a little high. But that's what you should expect from a fine dining Arabic restaurant. Awesome food awesome service but very very pricey.

I entered the restraunt, looked around for a bit before someone in the kitchen noticed me and began looking for the host. She then resolved to come seat me herself. I sat down and listened to another customer repeatedly ask a staff member about splitting a bill. I don't think she spoke English, as she gave one of those "I don't understand you," type laughs and walked away. After this, I see that my plate has some dried red sauce, plainly visible on the brim of the plate. I decided to switch the dish set I had with the second set on the table. The glass with this set, had dried on black specks. I did not eat here.

Food was warm and tasty. The seating environment is very fancy. They unfortunately ran out of the chicken shawarma but gave me an alternative that was practically the same. Good place to hold a big group for a birthday party or get together. Parking was crammed and is a one way design.

Always a favorite to return too! Great ethnic/Middle Estern, familiar, foods and courteous servers. We like to go to the Detroit Art Institute for the day and over to Al Ameer for dinner and dessert. Its a family atmosphere with great traditional dishes, always appreciated when traveling.
