I had a couple of pistols that I took to Alaska Custom Firearms to have the sights replaced. Both times that I was at the shop the guys were very friendly, professional, and very knowledgeable about the work I was having done. The were about to complete the work in a very timely manner and at prices that I considered to be VERY reasonable. There is no doubt that I will be returning to have more work performed on my 1911, as soon as my budget allows. Thank you gentlemen, I appreciate the fine work and the pleasant demeanor. I had my gun there for 11 weeks and they said they were very busy. They kept making excuses about their system being down for week and now they went on vacation. I called another gun smith and they were able to get my gun fixed in a week. If I were to rate a zero or in the negatives I would. Not doing my gun worked on here anymore.
I came into the shop with my high standard sport king, which had been sitting in the safe for years due to feeding problems. I was planning to drop the pistol off and was expecting a big repair bill for the work. Imagine my surprise when the gunsmith loaned me the tool and instructions to preform the repair at home, at no cost. This type of service is beyond rare, especially in gunshops. Although money didn't change hands that day, I've since purchased firearms through the store and will continue to bring my business here. They might not stock tons of firearms, but they can order just about anything. They're also registered with the Davidson's "Gun Genie" website, which is an awesome way to get exactly the firearm you're after. Check them out!
The owner and son are very knowledgeable, professional, and very polite to deal with. They went out of their way to accommodate my needs. They packed and shipped items for me to another state ensuring accurate delivery and security on my timeline. I would highly recommend this company!
I recently purchased a vz 24 mauser from them it was supposed to be a 7x57 I even called and asked them about it they assured me it was, he even said it was stamped on the barrel. I started to work on it and cut the front sight off and sent out to be recrowned the gunsmith set it up and the 7mm spud was to small,it showed to be 7.92. you would think a custom gunshop like this one would know the difference. not happy in texas!
The work was good quality. The owner is an opinionated ass who will tell you how much he hates your firearm, and will drag out simple jobs for months.
One of the few gun stores I've been to where the staff/owner doesn't talk down to you and treat you like an idiot. Best price I found on my .460, beat the big box stores.
Steve is awesome, does impeccable work, and is a great source of information about anything firearms related. He is the only gunsmith in Anchorage I will do business with.
My sub 5# custom rifle shoots a ragged hole and looks great. Steve built what I wanted and made it turn out awesome. Thank you
Walked in with a simple job that was finished quickly and at a fair price. Employees were friendly and engaging
