I hardly ever write negative reviews and I certainly didn’t want to write this one. But I purchased an 88 Grand Wagoneer from Brian here and after having to work with 3 different people, a dozen phone calls finally received the truck. They did the interior front seats for us for additional charge, which was nice but when we received the Jeep I made a list of items that were missing or wrong that was a page long. It was supposed to be a clean classic example as per their ad of a Grand Wagoneer. Not even close. What I received a truck whose power door locks didn’t work, missing dome light, missing armrest on the passenger side, radio didn’t work, headliner coming down, transmission needs a rebuild, low engine compression, air vent hanging down, ac didn’t work, temp slider locked and wouldn’t budge and on and on. I put everything in writing and gave them every opportunity to respond and heard nothing back. Not good. Next step is an attorney. Would never have purchased the vehicle from these guys if I knew all of the above. Be careful and have the vehicle checked out. It’s a shame. I liked Brian but horrible experience.
DO NOT BUY A CLASSIC CAR FROM THIS PLACE .. they lie, do not buy anything from them . Do not believe them when they tell you they went through the car and checked everything and everything is good . Purchased a 53 Chevy 5 panel from them . Restored they said !! Not even . All windows leak, cracked welds all through out the frame, bushings rotted out . Chipped paint, alternator installed wrong, hood installed wrong . Motor installed wrong . No wipers no mirrors, told me they had them coming weeks ago ! Nothing . DO NOT TRUST THERE WORD . No follow up !! There brokers not classic car guys !

Dealer committed to buying my car. Said “consider it sold”. Rushed me to make it happen before New Years saying they wanted it as a New Years gift. Then after I did my part they backed out putting me in a bad possession with the car I’m buy as I’m a man of my word. Do not do business here unless you want games.
The sign out front has a toyota used cars logo, but that it's as far from what is inside. Lots of classic, almost exclusively American muscle era cars and trucks. Sometimes a little rougher, but always drivers and usually at a super reasonable price.
I recently got the bug to purchase a classic car and as luck would have it, found exactly what I had been searching for right here in my Bay Area backyard. Ray, the General Manager, was very professional and helpful through the entire multiple test drive and purchase process. I highly recommend Amercian Motors Custom and Classics.
Absolutely horrible experience today over at this shop. At first I was greeted by a polite gentleman at the front door who kindly walked me outside to check out my car. Everything was fine and dandy But kept me waiting too long and ended up taking another phone call inside and leaving me outside hanging for about 25 minutes. I walked back inside unsure what happened and he was on the phone and apologized. But Then directed me to this older man named Frank who was supposed to help me. The plan was to take me and my car down to see a man by the name of Ray who Would give me an offer for my car. So Frank gets into my car and right from the get go Starts talking to me in this very rude tone of voice. He began asking me questions like do you have all the original paperwork is it all original etc etc. At first I was a little bit thrown off by the tone of his voice but I could tell by his tone and his body language that he was just being straight up rude and insensitive. I don't like to jump to conclusions so I gave the man the benefit of the doubt and we drove down to the Toyota dealership where we were supposed to meet someone named ray. Not surprisingly though ray was unavailable and we spent all that time for nothing. Apparently he was 'on lunch'. I'm not sure who is behind the operations as far as customer service and management but it makes sense to just take a few pictures of my car and send it over to ray and just take my phone number and call me with an offer instead of driving around with someone as unprofessional as Frank. That's what Frank ended up doing any ways not to mention I wasted a bunch of time. Unfortunately I will never do business here and I don't recommend anyone else do so because clearly they have problems from the ground level that only tells you that the highest position they probably behave the same and exude similar characteristics. A big double thumbs down for this shop. Despite having cool classic american muscle cars, I wouldn't go here.
Ok just a few days ago u drove to San Jose to get a uber xchange car knowing that it was going to be a process of 3 to 4 business days. My experience was okay until I received a call back from the sales representative stating that I left my Drivers license. I was in Fremont heading back to Benicia which is an hour and 15 to 20mins drive with my children, so I had to turn around and get my drivers license from the representative. I was happy when I went back because the paper work was received back from xchange leasing. I understand there is a process but it would have been nice to hear from the sales representative of the status and what's taking place. Revising my review special thanks to Ray who made it happen for me at Toyota in San Jose. My experience wasn't the best but one thing I can say is Ray went out of his way to make things happen and in timely fashion. I just heard from him a few days ago and he wanted to make sure everything is good. Great Customer Service. Thank you Ray ;
Started off not having the best of experiences here thanks to one man in particular....Frank. But after putting a review up I was contacted directly from the heart of the dealership...Ray. He went above and beyond to assure me the treatment I received was not ok. He made it right by personally overseeing my case and even went so far as to deliver the car to my place. : In life you'll meet plenty of Franks, hopefully you come across more Rays though. *if you're like me and doing the Xchange program through Uber...have patience!
