My husband and our family have enjoyed the Applegate River Lodge on a variety of occasions. We always receive good service from the staff, who go above and beyond the call of duty to accommodate customers. Just the other day we brought a party of nine down to the restaurant, and the staff brought a large table out onto the balcony so we could enjoy the river and outdoors with our meal and family.
The lodge has designated cigarette smoking areas for everyday use, and if you smoke cannabis it is a non issue. Definitely a place for a variety of people with diverse outlooks and tastes. As long as you have an open mind, are not overly judgemental of the other customers, and come ready to have a good time, the lodge is the place for you. Not to mention their support of local bands and festivities.

My fiancee and I went for a romantic dinner this last weekend and experienced absolutely the worst meal and disappointing date night ever! On the deck we experienced people from table next to ours smoking while we tried to enjoy the beauty if the riverside setting. Even though they ordered after us, they received their steamed mussels before us. We went inside to eat our like warm and underseasoned mussels. After an hour waiting for our main entrees to arrive, when they did come the entire plate of meager portions were stone cold. The pork tenderloin was not tender, nor tenderloin. The beef was overcooked and dry. When we asked the waitress what the problem was all we got was tears, weak excuses and gibberish. BTW: my fiancee was offended byher way too short skirt which was so short when she bent over we saw much more more than "France"!
Their were people smoking marijuana in the restaurant and on the deck. I thought those areas were supposed to be non smoking (of anything in this state?). All in all it was a waste of time, money and gas and we were there to check it out as a possible wedding venue! If you want a smoke free environment with good food and a river view go the the Taprock restaurant as we have done many times and will, continue to do so.
The owners response was as tepid, unprofessional and inadequate as was the whole meal we had there!
Someone needs to put down the bong and pay more attention to his business and put out a consistent quality product and deliver excellent customer service to every patron of his establishment. The people who got their mussels first were obviously friends of staff and were able to share their cannabis with them too!
So unless you want the only aromas to be tobacco and cannabis with your plate of cold and overlooked bland food go any where else to spend your hard earned dinning dollars please!

I recently rented the Myrtle Room on a concert night and paid $165. The lodge was very nice, but staff is what earned them the 5 star rating. The room was very rustic(no phone,no tv,no microwave) and the bed could have been updated (to say the least) but the overall experience was great, the scenery is beautiful. It can be nice to be disconnected if you know what I mean. The food was amazing, and on a very busy night they made the extra effort and delivered our meal to my private balcony unexpectedly (no phone) lol. I will go back for sure!
