Dr. Melodie Harrison made an excellent impression on my 17 year old daughter during our initial visit. She has a calm, knowledgeable manner and spoke to/ gave advice to my daughter in a respectful and encouraging way. We were also impressed with the cleanliness of the office. Everyone was masked throughout our visit and there was someone wiping down all surfaces thoroughly with disinfectant as we entered, even though it was mid morning. We like that the office has its own lab and we did not have to drive somewhere else to get my daughter's blood test.
On 9-23-22 I took my infant to an appointment he had at Atrium Heath Levine Children's office, Arboretum location, with Dr. Anitha Leonard. This office is located at 7800 Providence Rd #203, Charlotte, NC 28226. Dr. Leonard treated me with impatience and didn't seem to listen to me or care about my concerns. She let me know within the first 60 seconds of our appointment that her clinic would probably not be a good match for me since it was a vaccinating clinic. I was a little confused about that comment since we were there for a vaccination. She seemed to care more about critiquing my decision to trust my last pediatrician's advice we recently moved out of state than she did about providing quality care for my infant. Everything from the formula that we were told to use, to our choice to take one vaccine at a time was criticized. I know that these criticisms were more important than caring for my baby because they vaccinated my son with the incorrect vaccination. I asked for the Haemophilus infuenzae type b & the pneumococcal disease vaccines. Dr. Leonard waited until Tuesday morning, the 27th of September, to call and tell me that they had instead given him the PCV & DTAP vaccines instead. She admitted on the phone she knew this Saturday, and claimed it was no fault of her own. After the experience I had, I highly doubt that. She offered a snide apology and was just as condescending as she was when I was in her office. As a new North Carolina resident, a new customer of Atrium health, a new customer and patient of Dr. Leonard's, and a new mother, I had hoped for much more from my son's pediatrician. I am highly disappointed in the way my son was treated. I understand that accidents happen, but injecting an infant is a serious matter that clearly was treated lightly. I asked for his medical records and proof of what he was actually injected with via email, and I've yet to receive that, as of 9-29-22, at 8:45 AM, 6 days after the malpractice.
Dr. Melonie Harrison was awesome! Very informative and patience! She explained everything and made us feel comfortable and heard! I recommend this office.
I HIGHLY recommend Arboretum Peditrics for any family looking for incredibly responsive and caring healthcare professionals. The doctors and nurses here are second to none. I have a son who was born at 29 weeks and they have been SO helpful any time I’ve sent a message or had a concern regarding his well being. They promptly schedule necessary appointments and respond to portal messages very quickly with concrete solutions and guidance. Dr. Harrison has been fantastic with my son and actually knows his health history when she enters each appointment. She is so knowledgeable, compassionate, and has a great rapport with him. Also, each nurse I’ve interacted with has been AMAZING-again they are so good with my son and are very responsive as well. I am so grateful this is where we’ve established care for him.
This pediatric office used to be wonderful. After a couple great doctors left and Atrium took over, it is a nightmare. Wait times of nearly an hour or longer just to schedule an appointment have become the norm and ironically, the "Customer Care" number that Atrium will likely provide as a response to this review also incurs wait times over an hour. UPDATE: Attending the office in-person to make an appointment or getting the staff to set the patient up on My Atrium is a much quicker option, both requiring an office visit.
Just left an appt at Arboretum Pediatrics and witnessed one of the front office staff be very rude to the parent of an autistic child. She said to the child "you need to have a mask on". The mother kindly stated "he won't wear one". The staff member repeated in question form "he won't wear one??" in a nasty rude tone as if to say what do you mean he wont wear one. The child looked to be between 9-11 years old, walking in circles with his ipad, and a baby bottle. He was visibly a special needs child. The mom kindly offered to wait outside. The rudeness was so obvious that my 14 yr old son sent me a text saying the lady was rude. She was the only one at the desk without a name tag on so unfortunately I did not get her name. African-American lady with blonde and black hair. I am also AA so this has nothing to do with race. The front desk staff should never be rude to anyone and should definitely be more sensitive with a special needs child. The only reason I rated 2 stars instead of 1 is because everyone else was so nice.
Horrible, rude staff! Arrived 15 minutes late to an appointment that I’ve had scheduled for months after getting out of work and getting my child out of school and they would not see me. Never again. No wonder so many wonderful doctors have left this establishment. Horrible customer service. This would be
My daughter and I love Dr. Harrison. My daughter is genuinely excited about going to the doctor because she is so kind and loving with her patients. No matter the reason for the visit, we always leave well informed and happy. The staff and nurses are always kind and helpful.
Our family loves Arboretum Pediatrics! The nurses and doctors made us feel welcome ever since our daughter was born and they’ve always given great care whenever she’s had any health concerns. They maintain a fun, friendly, and caring atmosphere where kids can feel safe. We’ve especially enjoyed Dr. Loibissio and his expertise. Highly recommend this practice!
Atrium Health has taken a once great practice and changed it into an unrecognizable mess of a medical provider. We have been with Arboretum Pediatrics for 14 years and will not be going back. What used to be a patient focused office with awesome pediatricians and staff is now part of some strange corporate healthcare machine that does all it can to prevent you from interacting with an actual caregiver. The final straw was the 30 minute wait to schedule a call with a nurse practitioner, who after another hour wait called us back to say we should just take our son with a chest cold to a random urgent care center. One final note to Atrium Health, throwing away 14 year-long patient relationships is not good business. You may wish you had those relationships back when that short-term federal support you are currently raking in dries up.
