Arcadia Brewing Company Kalamazoo

Really enjoy coming here with my dog-loving friends. The beer is consistent and the outdoor patio is a great place to hangout. One place where Arcadia seems to be struggling is in the food. It seems to me they are having issue with their identity and management. They started off with a walk up BBQ stand which had cooks dealing with customers. It was not smooth and the food suffered but I liked that I didn’t have a server hovering over me. Now they have switched to table service and I have heard a number of complaints about people not being waited on and orders taking too long. I experienced this when my group of four were overlooked, sitting with empty beers, for about twenty minutes when a group of eight sat near us. We had to walk in and talk to our server who had too many people seated to attend to us properly. None of the staff came to help. Once we got our food there was some mixed reactions. One glaring issue is that the chicken wings tasted like gas; as if the flame went out on the grill and the propane kept pumping. It makes me wonder if the cooks or management tasted the food or if this was a problem with just one order. Other than that the tachos (tater tot nachos) were really tasty but they are $9 for some of the cheapest food on the shelf. Public schools serve them for school lunch and they are given $3.23 to feed each child; and there really isn’t close to $9 worth of pulled pork on the dish. However, the fried smelt was crispy and salty and I really appreciated such a unique dish. Overall I have become discouraged by the food and the speed of service (although the servers are wonderful people and I enjoy interacting with them) I mostly come to Arcadia so I can bring the dog. She loves it.

Beer leaves a lot to be desired. Food is good, but with the new table service we sat for nearly an hour and didn't get served. Walked up to the bar to ask about a server for a table of 10. Was told I could order at the bar. And was asked what I wanted. I told the bartender I wasn't sure because I hadn't seen a menu. He disappeared to serve others. I asked a server if we could come and take our order and was told we weren't he section. He said my best bet was to order at the bar. I waited a little bit and resigned back to my table. It's a shame that a better establishment doesn't have, what is in my opinion, the best location for warm weather in Kalamazoo. Two stars based on location only.

Did not have any food, but the beer is fantastic. The Brigid's Irish Red and English Lager were both very tasty and true to style. However, their casked Starboard Stout was one of the best stouts that I have had to date, and I mean that wholeheartedly. Great atmosphere, knowledgeable tenders, and a wide selection of great beers. Seriously, treat yourself and try this Stout. All things considered compelled me to write this review - can't wait to come back.

My boyfriend and I had such an awesome experience in the beer garden. We were able to bring our dog with us since Arcadia’s beer garden is dog friendly and boy was he loved. Our server Paige spoiled him with treats and even a pork rind on our way out. We will be back (with our pup too)!

Get the 1/2 rack rib platter with Loch Down scotch style ale! Great beer and ribs come with 2 sides. More than two can eat and only $14 for the ribs. The ale was $4 for 10oz or $6 for 20 oz. Great dog-friendly outdoor space with band stage and view of the river.
