Reviews
First off, I'd like to state I have no bias against this company or anyone who works there. The following review will be based on a event that happened today (4-2-18) as I saw it from my perspective.
I have been obsessively trying to determine which "pocket gun" I would like to carry as a backup, or one that I can carry on hot days without a full holster setup as I normally would. I had done a lot of research online, reading reviews and watching videos...It came down between two guns that they had in stock. I called early and asked if I could swing by and take a look. They kindly told to come take a look. I gathered my things and headed that way.
Once I got there, first thing I noticed there were several elderly men hanging around the area, not looking as if they were there to purchase anything but rather to chit chat and enjoy company. I have no problems with that. I did take note that they seemed to be pressing me to make my purchase there. Again, I'm not sure if they worked there, but it was awkward having a handful of people pushing me to buy something. It made me feel like I was at a car dealership and all the floor-men were ganging up on me.
The owner was quite pleasant at first. He did a very good job at presenting the items that I wanted and pressed for the sale professionally. He answered all my questions, gave his opinions, all of which I thanked him for.
And here comes the show stoppers...
First let me say I consider myself a "smart shopper", and I would also consider anyone who would be reading a business review a smart shopper (ex: you, the reader). I completely understand that local businesses have a business to maintain, employees, utilities, rent and other bills to pay, all reasons for having fair markups. Again, I do not dispute this fact what-so-ever. What I do dispute is how rude and curt the owner eventually became when I decided to not make my purchase at his location rather a different location with a cheaper option. He and I very well know there are other sources for the same product that will not cost me, the end consumer, as much money. This comes full circle to my "smart shopper" spiel earlier mentioned.
I did confront the owner with my concerns about the price of the product. I gave him an offer and he declined. He did offer to cut his "credit card fee" which would save me 10$. I also declined, because I felt the price was still too high and he then began into a pitch saying "Business's like this will not exist in 2 years because of online retailers". While I disagree with even having the conversation brought up in the first place, I also disagree with the notion. The internet has been around for a long time and although I'm sure he's felt the effects, he's not excluded from utilizing the same resource... Furthermore there are many shoppers looking for quicker means of obtaining a product even if it means paying higher markup. That simply isn't me and I shouldn't be treated in any unfavorable manner in his business only because he disagrees with me.
I saw that there was no further middle ground to be made so I gathered my things for my way out. I thanked him for his time and letting me handle his firearms. On my way out I asked him one final question, "How much do you charge for transfers?" I asked because he is a closer option for me and if I do decide to make my purchase elsewhere I can have hit shipped there and we both would benefit: he would get the transfer fee, I would get a shorter drive. And he RUDELY said, "I'm not going to give you one, but they're normally 25$." I smirked, thanked him and left.
If you've ever sat through a timeshare, imagine asking to use the bathroom on the way out and being declined because you didn't buy into their product. That's how I felt.
This is only my story, reading his other reviews other people are happy with the business. But I can't help but feel they are less informed about other, cheaper avenues of purchasing firearms and if they were to know about them they would make the exact same decision that I did.
