I hate this place. There are always staff in it but they often don't have a person to make your drink or check you out. No one there seems to care about your experience. I feel they overcharge for a very average sandwich or salad. Don't get a bagel with cream cheese they even managed to screw that up. Unfortunately it's damn convenient and I keep giving them money.
My wife and I are here for a Christmas shopping weekend, thought we’d have a quick breakfast. Staff is detached and not very pleasant or helpful, not a smile in sight here. I asked for some jam and after the cashier pointed and mumbled I still couldn’t find it so she was really unhappy when she had to actually help me find it! The woman cooking bagels was no better either. Breakfast buffet was also meager. We won’t bother stopping here again.
Ate here twice while staying at the local Marriott. The sandwiches I ordered were good, as was the soup and pastries. Staff were nice, but not overly concerned with keeping things clean nor stocked, hence the one deduction.
This is one of the few large Au Bon Pain that are in the city. It is a rare that you can get a full salad bar, sandwich customization and soup selection in the city of Boston. The location is really good. I also cater from this location and never had an issue with an order or with anyone on the staff. I will look forward to coming here again for lunch or if I am in the city. Definitely recommend the 1/2 sandwich and 1/2 soup combo - not only is it cheap but you get great value.
Coffee was good. Ok place to sit for a min. Pastry is expensive, but honestly nothing special. Tables and chairs are in a little disarray and most very close to each other. Feels like a cafateria, when I think it's going for cafe. Cashiers would rather be anywhere else, clearly.
During mid afternoon, when facility was not busy, I found the manager with two staff people just talking with on another, instead of attending to the business of cleaning tables for customers to use and taking care of the over filled trash recepticles. Over priced for what they offer along with lazy staff and poor management!
Sadly this Au Bon Pan location is very mediocre, although it is big. The staff repeatedly close the store 15 mins earlier than the hours listed on the doors at 8:45pm on weekdays which is extremely annoying because the store is supposed to offer 50%off on pastries from 8pm-9pm on weekdays. I also find that this location is lackingbinnvariety of pastries as well. The sandwhiches however can be made custom to order and I recommend those.
The tables were unclean. Alot of them and there was soda spilled in the seat and Tasty Burger bag in window. I believe it's the staffing. They were way better than this before. Last 6 months or so downward trend. Soup is still yummie as well the sandwhich prep. Staffing and moral.
Au bon pain has does great soup and wraps . Try thier thai chicken wrap and my favorite, Turkey ,Kale & Wild Rice soup ...ive gone outbof my way to find an Au Bon Pain JUST to enjoy that soup. Its a must on a cold winter day far as im concerned .
I walked by Au Bon Pain at Copley Place while it was closed around midnight on June 7, 2017. I noticed about 5 mice running around the floor. An employee was there baking food. I got his attention and pointed out the mice. He said he was aware, but didn't seem to care. Seems like a major health issue to me. I would not eat there.
