Back Country

This is my go to shop for travel purchases. It seems that they only sell solid gear with great warranties. Most recently I needed a receipt for a 4+ year old dry bag. Jay was able to access the receipt within minutes and emailed it to me. I was able to complete my warranty request the same day and a new product will be sent shortly. Buy local!

I love this cute outdoor shop and all the product they sell. The reason for 4 stars is the employees seem to hover especially the females, making me feel uncomfortable. The first time I went there however, my boyfriend and I bought two Osprey packs and had great customer service from one of the male employees who helped us make a decision. We were there for hours and he even offered us a couple beers. If it weren’t for our more recent uncomfortable experiences I’d give 5 stars for sure.

A welcoming atmosphere and personal service is always the main focus for my personal experiences. Back Country delivers! It's the small business vibe and unique high quality merchandise that makes me feel good when I leave. Oh yeah, TheAwesomeSales and SeasonalDiscounts have something to do with it, too. :

A favorite store in DSM. Locally owned and operated, with brands you can’t get anywhere else in town. They have a great selection of diverse clothes, for outdoors and even for dressing up. I can’t go in here and not buy something! The staff also rule.

There's no better place than this iconic store to be outfitted for the world, or your back yard. Options range from camping gear to drop dead beautiful clothing with expert one on one staff assistance you intelligently. I adore my sweater from peru I found there 40 years ago and everything since.

Top quality clothing and gear with personalized service. I'm always impressed with selection and service. The staff never pushes sales and respond to questions with honesty. Plus, it is local! Support local!!

I have a love/hate relationship with this place. I love shopping here, but when I do, my wallet hates me. They always have great products and everything is competitively priced. I just buy more than my wallet appreciates.

First time here was on Saturday 11-2-19. Tiny store with little clothing that's high priced, not what I was expecting, at all. Don't get this store mixed with Backcountry- two totally different stores! Store reeked of smoke with a mixture of air freshner like they were trying to hide the smoke smell. Spent under 5 minutes in this store.

Great first time experience.. went in knowing roughly what I needed for a hike but didn't know where to start looking. I was quickly helped and pointed into the right direction. After no more than 10 minutes I was out with what I came in for and felt confident im ready to hit the trails thanks to their knowledge!

My parents went here to get me some Christmas gifts, and they were very accommodating with the exchanges. When my mom was shopping, the person working - of similar build to me - actually tried the clothes on/modeled them for her!
