Bar Louie

I have a soft spot for Bar Louie, specifically the Loop location. In terms of the Merrillville location, I like the atmosphere and the service was friendly. They have a dirty martini on the menu, made with vodka and blue cheese stuffed olives. I ordered a dirty martini, made with gin and regular olives (a traditional dirty martini). The waitress told me no one had ever ordered that before and I was served gin straight up. Eek! For cocktails, don't stray from the menu here.

Cool place to hangout. The drinks can be made if it's not on the menu. Food is good but not much to choose from.

I like this establishment because it stays open late and has pretty good food. However, it seems no matter which Bar Loouie I go to, the service is slow and just poor. Sometimes the service can appear to be selective. I've made complaints to management on several occasions. I've been ignored, even forgotten by some servers. I once sat at the bar for 20 minutes, while the bartender ignored me. When a group of four walked up to the bar they received immediate attention. Service needs improvement. This is why only 2 stars.

I just left Bar Loui in Merrillville, IN and the service was terrible. The floors were sticky and so were the menus. People were walking out because our waitress was super slow. My boyfriend and I will never go back again and I will make sure I let my friends that frequent that establishment know about the experience as well. People were going off on the waitress because they were waiting for 30 minutes or longer. One couple said she came because there were hardly any cars in the parking lot, but she had to wait for service like they were jammed pack. I asked the waitress if she was new and she said no. Maybe it’s bad management. There was no manager walking around checking on the patrons or nothing. It was like the restaurant ran itself. Terrible!!! Please stay away from this location.

Great food and service. Ticket times can be slow on food orders but overall great place to grab a bite or drinks with some friends.
