Basil Asian Bistro

Waited 45 min for Calamari while watching 3 tables sit, eat, and leave. Calamari came out after salad, which was already crappy, but we had to ask for someone to see what was going on with our food. Like we had to get up and go hassle the bartender. Cook standing behind the bar had an attitude, and our server was a wreck. On top of all that, Calamari was under cooked. We offered to pay for what we had already consumed, but the manager thought we wanted the rest of our order to go- which was like a $100 order. Full shebang- apps, salads, 5 sushi rolls, lo mein, and most likely dessert. We declined and she told us not to worry about the tab (2 drinks and salads that we didn't finish) but we really didn't feel like they cared that our lunch was a colossal failure. Won't return most likely. Had good experiences in the past, but their food is to expensive and not good enough to deal with losing an hour of my day to unapologetic people screwing up our meal. Sucks, too, because they're local folks and we really enjoyed previous experiences. It's just too much time and money to wonder if "it'll be good this time" Second star is for food at previous visits.

Stood at the waiting area for at least 10 minutes as a couple of waiters walked past me twice and once where one of them stopped at the terminal where I was standing to type something into the terminal, but not once did they address me. The guy behind the bar was happily chewing his gum as he looked at his phone. Finally I went up to one if them and asked if I could be served. He apologized that there was no hostess present and finally sat me. Once you finally get seated do they finally talk to you. Food was good but the initial experience was a let down. Not sure if the place being slow on Wednesday is the reason for my bad experience or if the hostess left for some reason and didn't tell anyone. I finally did see the hostess, apparently she was helping in the back bringing food to customer's tables and other tasks which took her away from the front of the house.

Possibly the best kept secret in Canton! The seafood soup is absolutely incredible and it's a meal in itself. The menu is vast and everything on it is good. You have to put this on your list of restaurants to go to and I am sure it will soon become one of your favorites! You won't believe the quality for the place!

I recently came to Basil Asian Bistro with my fiance and our two friends. We made a reservation for our night and on this busy Saturday had our table within 10 minutes of arriving. The martinis were awesome and a sight to see smoking with dry ice! My sushi and pot stickers were delicious and there were no complaints to be had. This place is great for a fun night out downtown!

Pho was way too salty. My eggroll was cold. But mostly the service was SLOW! Also there were many open tables and we were seated at a back corner, cramped table. But the worst part was that the staff seemed like they really didn't want us there and were just unhappy in general. Their attitude really put a damper on what should have been a fun lunch with friends and family. Will not be going back.
