Great morning restaurant reminds one of the film Alice Doesn’t Live Here Any More from the 1970’s. Lighthouse themed. Fresh food local and ugly but delicious cinnamon rolls, have one of the friendly waitstaff heat in the salamander the crispy is worth the effort! I get tomatoes on side rather than potatoes which are cooked well seasoned deliciously and smothered in butter!
Old school dive serving some of the best breakfast I’ve had. I ordered the breakfast burrito with the country fried potatoes. The burrito was great and the potatoes were better. My kids ordered cinnamon rolls, bacon, and hash browns. The cinnamon roll melted in your mouth, hash browns cooked to perfection with just the right amount of crunch, and the bacon was fresh. We were in town for the state choir festival and a friend recommended The Beacon. A must stop if you’re in Wichita.
Great service, inexpensive. Classic old diner atmosphere. Biscuits are great, similar to homegrown but more of a dry style. Gravy is great, similar to Jimmy’s diner. Biscuits and gravy - great Cinnamon roll - great Hashbrowns are good, similar to Jimmy’s diner. Eggs are good
The Beacon has been a staple restaurant in Wichita for many years. Lighthouse themed. If you like breakfast, this is a great place to go. The food is good, and the waitresses are friendly. If you get Dana and order a Belgian waffle with fruit and whipped cream, she can make you the most perfect waffle you have ever seen in your life!Dine in: Yes
Not the most upscale place to eat breakfast but it reminds me of small town living where you know all the people and you feel a more personal connection. The food was yummy and I had the most perfect over-medium eggs! This is their Apple walnut French toast with added blueberries and it was HUGE for a great price! It’s also not the most clean place as in it could probably use a good deep clean but other than that it was very nostalgic and cozy.
5 star food and 5 star service! We walked by this restaurant and decided to have a meal. I'm so happy we did! Everything was delicious, portions are huge for the prices, and I think everything was homemade. Our server, Dana, was very charming and took excellent care of us without being overbearing. The Beacon reminds me of the small diners all over the east coast; it was a nice dose of childhood nostalgia.
Happy we got to try The Beacon today! Our son turned ONE today and we wanted to go to a diner downtown. Got there right when they opened so parking wasn't an issue. The waitress made our little man's day extra special. With a candle and happy Birthday song. The food was amazing as well! My husband got the Maxi omellete. And I got the Western Omellete. Both great! Hashbrowns were perfect. Overall great experience! Thanks!! Pic shows maxi omelette. He drizzled ranch over it.
First time visiting and I will definitely be back. Fantastic food and service! The prices are beyond reasonable and the quality and quantity can't be beat! It is small and not in a bad way. They do not have background music and you don't need it. The background noise of other customers combined with the hustle and bustle of the kitchen is plenty. Pictured is the Horseshoe, gravy on the side Can't wait to try the rest of the menu!
Amazing cinnamon roll a can't miss item. I ordered scrambled eggs soft for the Shoe, but unfortunately, they were hard and ruined. Its the only bad thing I can really say about my experience, that and a dated atmosphere not a big deal.Food: 4/5
This restaurant is located downtown Wichita near Old Town. If you are from Wichita you have probably past the Beacon Restaurant over a dozen times but didn’t realize it was there. We tried the restaurant for breakfast and we thoroughly enjoyed our dinning experience. We ordered breakfast and had a variety of menu items that included biscuits and gravy, omelette, chicken fried steak and a breakfast burrito. All breakfast items had amazing flavor and were cooked perfectly. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. This restaurant is setup like an old school dinner, so do not expect an upscale decor, but the breakfast hands down is the best in Wichita. I highly recommend the Beacon Restaurant.
