My husband, two year old, and I booked this hotel for a one night stay as we were traveling through. We booked it because we were looking for a pool to take our two year old to. Upon arrival, things looked fairly good. Just seemed to be an older hotel that they had been updating with brighter lighting and bolder colors and decor. The lobby was clean. Our room looked to be clean. We got into our room and got changed to go directly to the pool. We didn’t stay at the pool long, the whole area was not super clean. There was trash everywhere including beads in the pool. The pool siding itself looked dirty as well. The towels smelled clean but were covered with stains. It just didn’t feel clean. We got back upstairs to shower and found that the shower floor was dirty. It was white so you could see the dirt. The shower door also wouldn’t stay closed all of the way. We also found out that our mini fridge wasn’t working. The mini fridge was not a complete deal breaker but a bummer. Honestly, we were all just exhausted from traveling 9+ hours that day so we made it work. But when we woke up this morning we found a cockroach crawling up the wall. Upon reading reviews I saw that others had issues with cockroaches. The idea of that made the free continental breakfast not sound appealing. I still give it two stars because the beds looked to be clean and they were comfortable, and the hotel staff was very kind, friendly, and accommodating when we asked for things; our key stopped working and we had to get a replacement, I forgot my pillow in the room after we had already checked out and I was able to get another key to get back into the room. For what we paid, we expected more. But this experience will probably keep us from booking a Best Western again.
I'm a 51 year old adult that has done a lot of traveling and stayed in a lot of hotels around the country so I know a good hotel when I get one. The floor at the Best Western in Birmingham, AL was so dirty that when we walked on it barefooted that the bottoms of our feet became black from all the dirt on the floor so we began wearing our socks, which also turned black and filthy. Also, our shoes were sticking to the floor due to the filth. It was truly disgusting. The floors need to be mopped, with clean water, very badly. I can not express this enough. This Best Western location needs attention badly. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone due to the filthy floors. There is nothing grosser than a dirty hotel that turns your feet and your socks black from all of the dirt and the lack of cleaning. And to make it worse we paid $230 for the one night we stayed there. The price to value is horrible. We booked a room at the Drury Inn right next door on our way back from our vacation and it was only $150 total per night, it was very clean, very comfortable, politer staff, and a much better breakfast with hot eggs, sausage, toast, fresh fruit, etc.. I will never stay at a Best Western again if I can help it. I do not work for any hotels or have any stack any of these hotels, I am simply sharing my experience.
Friendly and welcoming staff. Rooms were very spacious and VERY CLEAN. Furnishings all very nice. King size bed was very clean and super comfortable, got a great night sleep. Hotel was also quiet. Micro-fridge and coffee maker in room also a wet bar. Indoor pool and fitness center. Large selection of restaurants, alot of them within walking distance. The only reason I didn't give a 5 star overall was that I didn't get to check out the free breakfast, due to my schedule, I had to leave early. But I will be returning and I will update my rating then.
The location is great! Plenty of food and stores nearby. The rooms isn't too bad. But the bed is very uncomfortable. I woke up with my back hurting. A comfortable is probably the most important to me. If others are the same, I would not recommend staying hereRooms: 2/5
The staff is superb. We booked for 2 nights and the MGt allowed me to checkout with a refund for the 2nd night. I am not a complainer but generally forgiving of minor problems. Te reason we left is when we opened the room we were hit with an overwhelming odor. The bathroom shower was not installed correctly the shower head pointed in a direction which soaked the whole bathroom. The pool had a nasty bathtub ring and all the sliding doors had not been cleaned and some were shattered. Online it advertised $79.00 but the room cost $200.00 Actually the property is tired and needs some TLC. John W Giles
Me and my daughter stopped here on our way to New Orleans. Check in was quick and efficient. The room was roomy and clean. Pool was small but we didn’t get in. Haven’t tried the breakfast yet but so far it’s a nice place to stay. The beds are comfy, and it’s a nice area there is a lot of stuff located around.Rooms: 4/5
Rooms were clean and the staff was excellent! We dealt with Montu who was the manager. We had a group of 41 people, mostly teenagers, on a church trip that had been staying down the road at the La Quinta. The La Quinta was in such disrepair and so dirty some of the kids were getting sick. We decided to find a new hotel and I came over to this Best Western. Montu was great. He showed us rooms so we could ensure they were clean and in good condition which they were, and helped us get our entire group into this hotel with us giving no notice at all. HE WAS A LIFE SAVER! THANK YOU! We had a great time. GREAT CONTINENTAL BREAKFAST AND UPDATED AND CLEAN ROOMS!
The customer service at this location is awful. We had an accident in our room due to broken equipment on the hotels part. We were charged an extra fee that they didn't tell us about, and they accused us breaking the equipment. The person we talked to was very rude, and just wanted to argue. He was not interested in helping to solve the issue. This has been the worst hotel I have ever stayed in will not be staying here again.
Don't know why my room was damp and smelled of mildew but that was fun. Shower rod was about to fall out of the walls on both sides, so not only was it unsafe, but the curtain wouldn't stay closed on either end. Only pro is it's slightly better than the Anchor Motel on 1st Ave in East Lake.
