Howard Johnson Inn Birmingham

Room was nasty, reported to office but nothing done changed bedding 2 time in 7 days, no Phone to call office an no lights by bed in working condition needs to bo better for there customers that pay alotRooms: 1/5

Everything else was booked and I needed to crash, so I pulled in here. It's a cheap motel and it definitely feels that way. Our first room reeked of weed, but they were nice about finding another. Lots of stuff broken and generally run down, but no bed bugs, which is my only real requirement for a cheap motel.

I was going to give this disgusting place a pass, but they didn't even honor my reservation on my return trip and basically left me stranded in Birmingham so screw em. Shower didn't work, toilet was broken, stairs had a dangerous slope on the top step, bugs, torn carpet, stains everywhere. The bright people at the desk don't keep track of reservations so your terrible excuse of a room may or may not even exist. If you have any self dignity you'll go anywhere else. Spend an extra $30 and go to Sonesta across town. You'll be glad you did.

Door had a big gap in it towards the bottom of the door, big enough a snake can get through it. Lights didn't work and neither did the plugs. The air conditioner only had air blowing out of 2 vents, it was over 90 degrees in there. We had the worker come up to fix it, so while waiting we went and bought fans because there's 3 kids under 11 with us and he called the room to say that's as cool as it will get that he can give the money back but we'd have to leave right then. Luckily we found another place at Quality Inn and they got us a room right then on short notice and we were able to book it for 2 nights.

The room smelled horrible. The carpet looked like it had never been cleaned. The rags and towels were dirty. There were bugs in the bathroom. I turned the shower on and the water came out brown.. This is the worse hotel I have ever stayed in. If the other hotels in the area wasn’t sold out I would most definitely leave, but now I see why this was the only hotel with rooms.

As usual EVERYONE was great. I am a veteran and stay there when have Dr appoints at the VA and always receive a discount. Will continue to stay, usually monthlyRooms: 4/5

I am a travel nurse who works night shift, the first day I awoke to a hotel employee trying to enter my room. I never received any clean towels and I was there 3 days. My last day I awoke with both my legs covered in bed bug bites. My legs swoll up and I had to take benadryl and steroids for the inflammation. Don't stay there the cheap price is not worth the bed bugs.

As soon as we entered the room, there was a big dead roach. Bad smell, poor condition of the wall paper, humidity. Ac not working. Definitely, a place you CAN’T stay in.
