NOT RECOMMENDED AT ALL. Worst Indian food I have ever had. Ordered 2 curries. Vegetable korma and Chicken Lababdar. Both the curries have the same gravy base. How can you give the same sause for 2 of your curries out of 4 in the menu. Also, we asked the server to make the curry a tad bit spicy since he said the curries are mild. All we got is chilly flakes in our food. I literally could not taste 1% of the food because all we could taste was chilly flakes. Had to eat ice cream after the dinner to calm down. You can see the amount of chilly flakes in the pictures. Would never go there every and will also make sure none of my friends go there. Also, the pictures are of 2 different dishes. Spot the difference.
I've been eyeing this restaurant for some time now because it's the sister restaurant of Rasika. You must book 1-2 months in advance or expect to sit and dine at the bar. Luckily we forgot the memo and walked right to the bar. Restaurant is pretty small and looks like it seats around 30-40 people. There is a wood burning oven in the corner with a food prep station. You'll see fresh naan, sliders and other small dishes come out from here. Everything else is cooked in the back kitchen. We had the Golgappa, spinach naan, lamb kathi, sticky pudding for dessert and a Curried away cocktail. Golgappa is one of my favorite Indian dishes and I'm glad they were able to put an interesting spin on it with some avocado. The spinach naan was perfect and the lamb kathi kept us wanting more. The sticky pudding had a nice molten of chocolate in the middle with a sweet caramel glaze around it. The Curried away cocktail had a stronger ginger taste. We enjoyed it because of the interesting egg yolk and house gin in it. All in all we were very pleased with our service and food. Place is a bit tight, but we didn't feel squished. The staff, host and servers were friendly and you can tell it's a well run establishment. There is plenty of neighborhood and street parking. Will definitely be back to try the corn rice pancake, lamb kebab and pao Bhaji
We are so happy that we discovered this place while we were visiting the Smithsonian National zoo. If you are taking the metro get down at the Cleveland Park stop on the red line. About the food, they have limited options on the menu but I must say the food was by far the best here in the US. We tries the Bhel Puri, Ragda Pattice, Pav Bhaji and the Kulfi. And if there is one thing I greatly recommend is their Bhel Puri and the Kulfi. Regarding the price, some of the items are over priced but atleast the food is good and better than the ones in DC which overcharge and dont give good food. So yes I surely recommend you to visit this place in Cleveland Park, DC
I was eager to try this place mainly because of my love for kathi rolls. I did an online pickup through Uber Eats and food was ready when I arrived. Now, let's come to the taste - overall it was okay. It was merely chicken wrapped in a roti. There weren't much ingredients in the wrap. Also the salad portion on the side was quite less. Overall, taste was good but definitely not worth the price.
This restaurant is not recommended if you have ever tasted authentic Indian street food, because what they serve is far from that. The “gol gappe” had no mint sauce or “paani” in it. One could mistake the dahi papdi chaat for dessert, it was that sweet. And the bhel had an overwhelming ginger flavor not present in authentic Indian bhel. The ragda pattice was just a big blob of mashed potatoes sitting on bland chickpeas, slathered with what appears to be store-bought chutneys. They are not able to customize the dishes to make them spicy as they had already been cooked. Chaat items need to be generously sprinkled with “sev”, they had placed only a few strands on each item. Vegetable kofta was the only vegetarian entree, and appeared stale. I am giving 2 stars just for presentation.
A delightful spot for a romantic date night from the culinary minds behind Rasika. Service is very friendly and the ambiance is low-lit and cozy.
I loved the shrimp rice pancake and enjoyed the general format of street food like snacks. The chicken kati roll was also great.
Indian style street food that ACTUALLY lives up to the hype !!! From the north to the south its all covered ! Thank you chef Vikram Sunderam !!!
Food was not bad but not worth the price. The waitress constantly asked us to order more food while we’re still eating, but it takes forever to refill water.
Indian small plates in a hip neighborhood. We tried almost all the Chaats and enjoyed them all. Save room for the unique desserts.
