A little known gem in central Minnesota, this forest offers a true and cozy wilderness experience with secluded walk-in sites and sociable drive-in ones. The one group site is an excellent value, running only $50/night for 5 medium sized campsites, easily accomidating of 20-plus people. There are not a whole lot of trails, but the ones available are relatively narrow and offer a deep woods experience (so bring jeans). There is also a public water access and a small beach with a picnic area.

Very nice place to camp. Sites are on the close side. Nice when camping with those you know but on the cozy side for the people you dont know. As with any state forest camp, the curfew 10p on generators makes it on the ridiculous side.

We went 3 years ago and the site was awesome, the price was really good. It was quiet, our site was away from the roads we drove right in and had 2 tents. The beach was ok. We used a Porta potty/out house that almost never had tp and with 3 kids we ended up using our own. No electricity and a water spigot was a ways away. But all in all was better than some places we've been. I'd rather not have certain luxuries than be by a busy road.

The walk in sites are very secluded. Which is nice. But the The officer the patrols the park it's extremely rude. 10:30 on a Friday night and me and my kids can't laugh and giggle at the camp fire. And his words " people come to this camp ground to enjoy the nature, not listen to people talk and laugh." We paid for two nights but are leaving first thing in the morning.

Nice campground. Great prices. Not much stuff for kids to do.
