Visited a year ago and vowed to NOT go back: slow service, overly exotic descriptions of menu items to the point of not even knowing what the he'll you were eating. WHAT A DIFFERENCE! We only went again because someone gave us a gift certificate. It was very very good, and I would be happy to recommend this place now. Very delicious and reasonable Thursday special of pasta and draft, which our friend said was fantastic, with generous morel mushrooms. Some wine selections are very pricey, but overall, the place has totally changed my opinion since my last visit.

We had the most incredible dinner at Bisl on Valentine’s Day. The food just melted in my mouth. I wanted to just close my eyes and focus on the different flavors. I had the lobster dinner, and he had the steak. It was all amazing. It may have been the best meal I have ever had in my life, it was that good! My date liked it too, and he is a meat and potatoes kind of guy.

There are good meals, and there dinning experiences. For context, I have worked in food and bar service in New York for four years, and my night at Bisl was one of the single greatest dinning experiences of my life and easily the best meal I've ever had in Montana.
Dave, the owner and executive chef, took my reservation. He talked through my evening, from the dietary needs of having a vegan in our group, to the types of wines we favored. Keep in mind, when I called he was well into his prep work for that evenings dinner service. But he also took the time to come talk to our table the night while we were dining.
The food is spectacular. While you may have to wait a few minutes for a table (at 49 seats, it's a smaller space) I promise you that it is well worth the wait.

I had my birthday dinner here last night with three friends, and I could not be more pleased that we chose it. We shared three appetizers, two items from the “greens” menu, and an entree. We ordered in waves, which I highly recommend. Every single thing was amazing. I could have stayed for another three hours and eaten through the whole menu if they weren’t nearing closing time. Our server was great. The owner/chef came out to our table to give us his personal wine recommendation when he heard from the server I was looking for something that wasn’t too tannic. Standout items were the wok fired mushrooms, beef tartare, and king crab, but nothing was anything short of delicious. A+

You can get better food for these kinds of prices in Bozeman. Cool atmosphere and open kitchen is cool but the food is overpriced for what you get.
