I was traveling for work and found this little gem in the city. It is very nice and cozy place. If you are looking for farm to table meal, this is the place for you. The atmosphere is very welcoming and food is delicious. I was there twice and tried eggs Benedict and was not left disappointed. The only thing I would add is maybe couple extra coffee selections for the morning people who come for b-fast
Fantastic meal and service! Our only complaints were that a few meals weren't timed right and had already cooled off a little too much, and the filet was super tiny and slightly overcooked. The meatloaf had great flavor. The sweet vermouth butter sauce on the liver was amazing...probably the best liver I've ever had. The orange sauce on the salmon wasn't my favorite. The chicken chili was very tasty. We would definitely go back to this place! It satisfied our foodie tastes!
Great atmosphere! Plenty of healthier options or those with food restrictions. The waitress was kind & made sure to ask for any food allergies which was a nice touch. The screwdriver was refreshing and the infused blueberry vodka was the right touch for a breakfast cocktail. The omelette was perfectly sized, only complaint was that the spinach was not cooked and more an after thought. The potatoes were perfectly seasoned and crisp. Highly recommended for a chill atmosphere with farm fresh ingredients.
Ok...where do we start. Atmosphere was nice, the catfish sandwich was actually the best part of the meal, besides the Vegan Orange Cake which was on the house because the little chocolate desserts they brought out, WERE FROZEN SOLID Totally unacceptable in any situation, ESPECIALLY during restaurant week where you are attempting to bring new business in. You can also see this in the pics we post for this review. The salad was pleasant and the soup was almost tasteless and way to plain as you can see from the pictures The waitress literally seemed to be rushing the entire time, and was bringing out the new course before half of the one before it was even eaten. The gravy they put on the meatloaf was veryyy thick and you must love mushrooms, without alot of flavor in your gravy to enjoy it for sure. The managar/owner came out to inquire/talk about the FROZEN chocolate cake dessert and literally walked up almost all the way to the table TALKING ON THE PHONE TO SOMEONE Poor taste indeed. She did say she would make it right by another dessert and had the NERVE TO SAY "Well I am offering you something else that's at least 11 or 12 dollars by itself, lunch is 15 total" That should not matter! This is restaurant week, your supposed to be putting your best out there and then try to make excuses and make us feel like WE were in the wrong or cheap for saying anything, bot cool. If YOU as a manager and your kitchen staff/serving staff were doing their due diligence to begin with, YOU WOULD NOT HAVE BROUGHT OUT A COMPLETELY FROZEN SOLID DESSERT! Overall this place will be a NOT RECOMMEND in our book, simply because there are too many other places just like it in Kansas City. Places that do not rush you through your meal. Places where the management staff are humble and accepting of the fact that THEY MESSED UP, instead of trying to be smart/rude about it and where the overall food quality...is simply just better. Overall 5/10, I really wanted this place to shine but the longer we were there the lower the score became. Shame on you "Blue Bird Bistro" for being poor sports and also the lack of quality during Kc Restaurant Week.....
Good resteraunt with some vegan options. Our friends treated us out here which was great. Probably the best cheese curds I've ever had, though on the pricey side. Blackened chicken was good and felt like I was being pretty healthy for eating out. Wife had the nettle pasta which was a sweeter curry and also pretty good. Very cozy resteraunt and I recommend checking out if you have the coin. Friendly staff and food came out quickly enough as well.
Blue Bird Bistro is a cute brunch spot in the city. The French toast was enormous! I had the omelet of the the day that was delicious and the heart shaped scone that came with my meal was a cute little touch that I adored.Dine in: YesOutdoor seating: No
Horribly food poisoned after going here in Valentine’s Day and spending $200 on a meal. Not only did it put my S/O in the bathroom for the rest of the night and into the next day, but the food was not poor quality, and they had the tables spaced out with less than two feet in between them so a fire code issue also I assume. All of which could have been overlooked if the food poisoning wasn’t so severe… there must be some major issues with food handling in the kitchen.
The atmosphere is really nice and the food is delicious !! Staff are friendly too. The restaurant is cozy and beautiful inside and out! A great place to come with friends or lovers! I recommend it
My husband and I have eaten here several times for both breakfast and dinner. We love this place. For breakfast, you really cannot beat their Eggs Benedicts! Truly amazing. The most recent visit we had was for dinner, for which we shared the Bison Turnover delicious!, the meatloaf yummy!, and the orange cake for dessert mind blowing!. All the pictures below are from the most recent visit. It’s all so delicious, we’ve never been disappointed by the food or the service. Highly recommend for those who wanna try something new!
Friendly, quiet, delicious place for a nice or special brunch. The mushroom gravy is incredible and you'd never guess that it's vegetarian. Vegetarian options: Vegan and vegetarian options available Dietary restrictions: Gluten-free options available
