Webster house generally provides great experiences. It's a boutique shop, an event space, and a fine restaurant. I have not been here for happy hour; I have been here for lunch, dinner, and one private event. The service and food during the wedding reception I attended was very delightful. I come here nearly every year for their Restaurant Week. Most recently I was here to celebrate a birthday. Our server was terrific! We had cocktails, the Formerly Known as Prince, a gin drink infused with butterfly pea shoots, which gives it the color. And then bitters and honey. It's little sweeter than my standard choice but by no means overly sweet. I really enjoyed!! The salmon was excellent - crispy on the outside and perfectly cooked to medium rare on the inside. My friend had the bisque and a burger and loved both. Most of the time, I love everything I eat here, but if you're deciding between two things, from previous experiences, things I'd skip: mushroom soup and coq au vin. There's an elevator inside, as the restaurant is on the second floor, first floor is a retail boutique. I didn't notice how accessible the main entrance or restrooms are.
{2020 KC Restaurant Week Review} The Webster House was our first lunch stop for KCRW! Everything was wonderful as usual. First Course: {Cream of Mushroom Soup / Walnuts & Chive Oil} - very rich and earthy, if you like mushrooms you will enjoy it. {Fried Brussels Sprouts / Pecorino Romano, Herbs, & Mustard Aioli} - loved the combo of Brussels with mustard...we ate the entire plate! Second Course: {Manzo e Polenta / braised beef, mushroom, squash, tomato, herbed polenta, grana padano, & arugula} - this was my favorite entree! The meat was so flavorful, polenta perfectly cooked, and they know how to cook mushrooms! {Coq Au Vin / red wine braised free range chicken hindquarter, bacon lardons, haricot vert, whipped potatoes, & beurre rouge} - still a very good entree! My husband raved about the flavor of the chicken skin and the meat was so tender it fell right off the bones. Original Review July 2019 Webster House is a phenomenal restaurant that not many people seem to know about! The location is beautiful and is technically a restored school not a house! with a rich history and gorgeous views of the city. The food is some of the best I've ever tasted. Their menu changes frequently/seasonally, but the quality is always consistent and on point. Service has always been exceptional as well. It's a great date night place!
This unique build is a gem of a find. The shop downstairs has a wonderful staff that are ready to help you at a moment's notice, and the restaurant upstairs is all the more impressive. The food is exquisitely prepared with the upmost attention to detail. The wait staff is friendly and ready to help with whatever you may need. If you are looking for a special date night place or a night out with friends to brunch this is the place to go.
We have been coming here for years as our 'go to' dining experience prior to attending performances at the Kauffman Center. Every visit has provided consistently great service! The cocktails are great, the menu is wonderful and the entire meal and experience from beginning to end is one of the best in town!!!
My wife chose Webster House for dinner for her birthday. She couldn't have made a better choice! Our dinner was fantastic. Every grain of rice in our risotto was perfectly al dente. Our salad was perfectly dressed. My salmon was cooked, to the discernability I have, a perfect medium. My wife's scallops were seared neatly and were deliciously buttery. The service was great as well. We felt accommodated without being harassed. The timing of our meal was nearly perfect. As one course was removed from the table the next appeared mere seconds to a minute later. We both had Ol' Fashioned drinks from the menu and they were balanced perfectly.
An overall excellent experience. Parking was ample thanks to a parking garage across the street that was validated by the restaurant. We were able to be seated right away when we made reservations. The service was top Notch. Waiter was friendly and very descriptive with the soup of the day. He was attentive without feeling clingy. We shared the potstickers as an appetizer. They are crispy and delicious. I have the salmon which was excellent. We also shared the cheesecake which was top notch. Highly recommend any of my friends to come to this place.
Food, ambiance and service was excellent! The squash soup was too spicy, but everything else was over the top fabulous! The restaurant and retail space is beautiful and very architecturally interesting.
Great service and great food! Webster House has a pleasant ambiance as well!
Great service. The pasta was delicious. The opera cake was ok but very dry, not my favorite.
This was our first time to Webster House. It was phenomenal! We had Dan as our server. Since it was our first time, we deferred to his recommendations and were very pleased. We started with the charcuterie. It was fantastic! Then I had a pear, arugula and duck salad followed by the duck entree. My husband had the warm potatoe salad and the short rib entree. The food was 5 star quality, but the portions were great and plated lovely. We joked that Gordon Ramsey must have been running the kitchen, but let's give credit were credit is due: Executive Chef, Brandon Winn, Sous Chef, Alex George won our hearts. We finished the night with the Chocolate Bouchon pictured - Walnut Nougat, Phyllo Tuile, Honey Ice Cream. I didn't take any other photos as I was too blown away with the meal to even think of taking a photo. Everything was so good! This was one of the best experiences we have had in a long time. We were lucky to get reservations on the same day. I recommend booking early so you can request a window seat with views of the Liberty Memorial. That said, the architecture and artwork are gorgeous, so there really isn't a bad view. We will be back and will be asking for Dan to serve us again. Thank you Webster House for defining hospitality and perfection!
