A Magical Music Store !!! One of the very last of the "Original Mom & Pop Music Stores", in Columbus and Central Ohio. Run and operated by John & Mary Lee, this store is a "Time Capsule" of how the "Instrument Music Business" was operated in Days-Gone-By. Strictly catering to the Acoustic Instrument side, and the instruments that support Bluegrass, Country, Americana, Folk & Blues...... this store is a working museum in modern times, and a treasure to experience, and explore. The prices are good and the inventory is outstanding. Martin Guitars are specialty....... Everything from Acoustic Guitars, Mandolins, Ukuleles, Dobros, Banjos, Violins/Fiddles, Double Bass, and Harmonicas. An abundance of accessories from A to Z are on display for sale as well.....
Lovely little music shop. I was looking for something that was not guitar center. This small shop is packed with some absolutely stunning bluegrass instruments, including Banjos, dulcimers, violins, ukulele, acoustic guitar, and an amazing collection of specialty harmonicas! Lots of helpful tools for teaching. The lesson book section was organized and had a lot of options. Under the counter there is a lot of pic options. There is percussion, folk CD’s and String options for all. The staff was so kind and helpful. I think there is a bit of an open jam that occurs downstairs occasionally. Awesome specialty store very much worth a visit.
Always call ahead to see what I am walking in to. Saved me a trip. Mary?..was pretty much incorrect on everything she said. It was obvious she was restating things she has heard from others. Won't waste my time...real is real, not is not.
Great place to get banjo or guitar work done. As a new banjo player, I stopped in with a banjo i bought from a friend to have it checked out and some adjustments made. John fixed me up right on the spot, and patiently answered all of my beginner questions. They stock a great supply of accessories and pieces parts. It's a great place to visit.
Love this little family-based musicians supply house. John and Marilee take really good care of not just me but all of their customers. I drive from Huber Heights, Ohio and go up on some Saturdays to visit and also looking for specifically a wonderful Kentucky Mandolin but trying all others to compare and they really educate me on some of the differences and how to by not just for looks but for the most amazing sound you get from different models. Don't get me wrong, I love the guys that get together in the basement and pick and sing. I will continue giving them my business and telling everyone else about this wonderful place.
The real deal as far as down home folk, blues, bluegrass and other string instruments music. Plenty of strings, picks, books, and instruments. I bought a capo and a few books. There's a bluegrass jam in the basement every Saturday.
Called to ask a simple question and the person I talked to was quite rude. They will definitely not be receiving any business from me.
John set me up with a great instrument within my budget. He made sure I had ever thing I needed including the names of a couple of people who could get me started playing my new pal. It is so refreshing to receive this level of personalized service!
My uncle was diagnosed with dementia. One of the few things he still can do and enjoys is playing his banjo. He came here to get new strings a month ago and he loved the place so much, it was all he could talk about. We brought him back here to look around and he was told about the Saturday jamming session. Everyday he would mention it to us and wanted to make sure we knew he NEEDED to go Saturday! Saturday came and he was so excited to go play music with people again he used to play with a band. About 30 mins after him being there he called and said “they didn’t want him”. They basically kicked him out and the woman was standing with him outside making sure he didn’t go back in when my mother arrived to pick him up. They were rude to an old man just trying to do something that actually makes his life alittle happier. I’m extremely upset about this, my whole family is. If you don’t want people there who just want to jam and have alittle fun, who maybe aren’t up to your standards, then maybe don’t have an open jam session. We have made a number of purchases here, but won’t be shopping here again. Awful people.
The service is great these guys will take care of any of your needs anything you need to know I'm talking to anything, they're good business and I highly recommend anybody that's trying to find some music school repairs to get in strings for a guitar or finding any kind of mandolin or violin or any kind of instrument, this is definitely a place to go.
