This place is hella popular but I’ve never understood why, I keep coming back because all my friends always wanna come here. The downstairs is more for eating, tables, and chilling, talking. And upstairs is darker, more music, people still eat upstairs but it’s more of a club vibe. I’ve never ordered food here, because whenever I look at others it does not look enticing at all. I will say it’s very gay friendly which is good. I think it’s small and I’ve never understood why we have a NY-Themed bar in DC.
Everything was going well at this place until we realized we bought a watered down bottle of Patron. The waitress bought the bottle out and claimed she opened it in front of uswhich she did not and she poured us all shots of our bottle which I thought was inappropriate.I feel like she poured us drinks to hid the fact it wasn’t a fresh bottle. We never saw her open it and she lied saying she did.I bought several cups from the bar as well has two pitchers of mimosas and did not feel my drinks at all.Even when we started drinking the $300 bottle of Patron I did not feel the liquor at all.Food was good but do not buy alcohol here unless you want watered down liquor. We spend over $700 here for a party of 6 and that was not worth it, I will not be returning. The manager came up looking like a bodyguard asking what was wrong, at that point I didn’t want to be the typical black customer complaining so I told him nothing was wrong and that I will be writing a review to warn others.Make sure you see your waitress open your bottle to ensure your liquor hasn’t been tampered with.Black businesses please do better and stop scamming. Also if you order wings tell them you want them well done, my brothers henny wings were pink
I absolutely enjoyed this place, we went for my sister's Birthday a group of 10, we had n family style food. The food was Delicious, our waitress was super attentive and sweet, the whole vibe was awesome . Glad I found this on tiktok and checked it out for myself.
From the text back once I RSVP'd, to the prompt, professional and warm welcoming "welcome to BROOKLYN on U" the gentleman at the door displayed, we knew we were gnna have a great time. Reservations were needed fo' sure! Food was popping!! Get those Henny and Honey Jack wings fo' sho! Lol Music was on point. Speakers were better upstairs. The pineapple drink was good, but $40 was a bit steep. Also, for $40, I was expecting for them to have been filled from the very bottom of the pineapple , not halfway, ya know? The waitresses are all beautiful, pleasant and professional!! Soo refreshing!! Upstairs also has reserved seating for dining, however, the bar area is free game . Definitely looking forward to returning!
Went for brunch today and was unimpressed by this establishment. I had higher hopes for a brunch spot in DC, on U street. I ordered the chicken and waffles do not recommend; the 3 strips of tenders were cooked hard and the waffle was slightly bigger than an Eggo. My friends enjoyed their steak and eggs and french toast plates. The ladies are beautiful the drinks were just ok. They do not have unlimited mimosas fair warning. Parking: Parking is terrible, of course so catch an Uber, get dropped off or be prepared for a nice walk.
Worst customer service ever I experienced! When we came in our waiter was over at a table behind us with 2 male customers she was sitting there smoking hookah with them . She then Got up to take my party order and then quickly walked off before we can get everything out of what we wanted . She then returned to the table with the guys and continued to smoke hookah and talk to them . She didn’t come back to check in on us offer a refill or nothing . I guess because gratuity is included they don’t feel the need to work for a tip. I also have never seen someone that was working and on the clock sitting and smoking hookah . So unprofessional and I won’t ever be back . Not to mention the drinks don’t give you a buzz at all just give you a full cup of ice with juice and half a shot lol don’t waste your time !!
I visited this place around 4:30p on a Sunday. I had a fabulous time! The people were beautiful and happy. The music was on point. I can't say enough about the food...it was absolutely delicious! Loved this spot! I met the owner and he is a great guy! Definitely a must visit if you are in the area or not! Tell them blaze sent you! Lol
My friends and I came here as a party of 3, as soon as we arrived the hostess couldn't even find our reservation on their system which we had made early that morning. Our reservation was for 3pm. The service was very slow our waitress barely tended to our table she kept disappearing and when it was time to pay the bill we had to get someone else to give us our bill. The food was not all that we had shrimp and grits I do not recommend. The service at this establishment is a bit tacky. Nice vibe though. They also served lemon drops in a whisky glass, yuck.
Upon entering, the servers tell you and assure you that you can sit down at the tables with service on the way. Shortly after, you will then be abruptly approached by the heavy set DJ/manager rudely approaching you and telling you and your whole party that you will all have to get up and move if you are not purchasing bottle service in a rude manner. Chasing your whole party with an embarrassing demeanor in fornt of everyone. The miscommunication in this establishment is outrageous and rude to say the least. My party had more than enough money and means to willingly purchase a bottle of it was communicated originally. The rude and condescending nature of this establishment's behavoir was more than unsettling to say the least. In their attempts to embarrass our whole party, we stuck it out while the whole crowd witnessed. I will never be caught dead in this establishment again as God is my witness. Purely atrocious service to patrons who are peaceful and willing to have a great time. This is not the place for that. I would not recommend wasting your time and money at this establishment if you value a comfortable and understandably great experience.
Have to show i.d. for HH on Fridays. No one was at the bar & we were seated at the bar. I guess they had reservations for the other seats..idk. But our server Joyce was great! Professional and kept up with our food/drinks. Music was 90s-2000s rnb and hip/hop so I was taken back memory lane of high school. Food was delicious and neat. Drinks were done right. You think you're good until you stand up lol. Low key vibes not crowded or loud and beautiful women everywhere "bottle girls". I will be back!
