It's a shame this is the only Brookstone in NYC besides the airport. The young store clerk is the reason why I will never give this location my patronage. The clerk is a young male with dark hair who looks hispanic (I only say that to describe him, if I knew his name I'd say that instead). I was there to test out their massaging chair. I took off my shoes, sat in the chair, and before I could even get acquainted with the remote control, the clerk comes out of nowhere and tells me to take off my shoes (which I already did) and took the controller out of my hand. He then put it on some automatic demo and walked away. He did not hand me back the controller but instead put it behind me near the headrest. When the demo was done, I picked up the controller to test some of its specific functions. He comes over again and tells me not to "play around" with the controller. I did not appreciate the fact that he was trying to protect the chair from me as if I were a 13 yr old kid (I am a grown adult). He also acted as if I had no intention of actually buying the chair. I told him I'm not "playing around" but rather testing the features. Then he starts explaining to me how pressing the buttons can "damage" the chair. By this time I was already on to him so I sarcastically asked why would pressing a button on this remote "damage" the chair. He tried to explain himself for another minute while trying to hold a fake smile. I think he sensed that I wasn't budging from his bullying behavior, so eventually he F'd off and went somewhere else while I "played around" with the remote control. I hope I broke it :-)

Hi, I'm writing this review of Brookstone at Rockefeller center and its manager Jon. My mother recently bought a large massaging device from Brookstone that didn't work. She decided to return it so me and my dad brought it back together since it was in a large box.
When we got to Rockefeller plaza, my father went downstairs to ask if they could bring a cart upstairs to take it down. They said "no" because of insurance reasons. I then went downstairs to ask again. I explained that I needed help carrying the box downstairs because it was large and my father is 76 years old. I wouldn't want him to try and carry it and get hurt. I was then told, "Can't you carry it yourself? I can do it." While I understand that because of insurance reasons the cart couldn't be used, I was surprised by this dismissive attitude towards a customer.
Ultimately, my father and I had to carry it down together, and not a single salesperson offered to help us even as we carried the box in. I was disappointed by the behavior of the employees at Brookstone. They have a lack of respect and are unprofessional when it comes to customer service. My family has made three previous purchases but after the way we were treated, we will not be coming back.
