A showstopper cake that was as delicious as it was beautiful. While not a traditional baby shower cake it was perfect as flowers represent new beginnings - and that's what babies are! Katie and her team are lovely, accommodating professionals who clearly care about their creations and their clients. I had two friends both have big birthdays and wanted to do something special for them . Buttermilk was so easy to work with, they emailed back very quickly answering any questions I had. They also processed my request for these beautiful custom cakes with 7 days notice! Very impressed with the end result, my friends were so impressed with how they came out. Additionally I asked for a gluten free cake and if they could do the lemon lavender flavor which they responded quickly and said yes. If you live in park slope and are looking for a custom cake look no further this place is the best!!

From first inquiry to pickup, buttermilk was so easy to work with. I ordered a custom cake that was even better than I could have imagined and a huge hit at a 5th birthday party by both adults and kids. A unanimous “best cake ever” with a fun twist- a chocolate cake with rainbow frosting layers and a sprinkles explosion. It tasted so good everyone had seconds

We’ve purchased all of our kids birthday cakes from a buttermilk. They are amazing! The cakes are delicious works of art. My newly 5 year old drew a picture of what she wanted her cake to look like this year. They NAILED it! Can’t wait for our next order. Got two of the Ultimate birthday cakes for a double celebration we had last night. They were absolutely delicious! Fresh, moist, flavorful and super cute looking. I’m an event planner and in my experience - guests usually care very little for cakes and it’s very hard to find a solid crowd pleaser. This was an absolute hit! Plates were cleaned up - everyone loved the cake and gobbled up the servings eagerly. Lots of guests asked where the cake was from - and I couldn’t recommend Buttermilk Bakeshop enough. It’s a fabulous birthday pick!

Buttermilk Bakeshop made the cake for my baby shower and it was the highlight of the party. We had a short conversation over email about what I was looking for and I sent them the invitation for inspiration and they created a true work of art. Even more importantly, it was delicious! Everyone commented on how it tasted as great as it looked, and I’m so glad I still have some in my fridge. Will definitely use them the next time I need a cake!

Love this place and pick up a small selection of baked goods from here about once a week! The chocolate cake in a jar is my absolute favorite. I also love getting the cake of the day slice, the cookies, and the bars. Had the raspberry pop-tart recently pictured and it was amazing! Have never had a bad experience in anyway here.

I ordered 2 cakes for my daughters birthdays, and they were not only STUNNING, but delicious as well. Buttermilk was so easy to work with. Highly recommend!! Will use them for all our birthdays moving forward!

Fantastic!!! Everything from communication to delivery was amazing. And the cake! There was NONE left…people were eating seconds and thirds. For reference I ordered the Brooklyn Blackout Cake. They used a photo I sent in and it was perfect. And another big thank you to the person who delivered it in the FREEZING COLD! I will 1000% recommend Buttermilk Bakeshop

Review: I chose this bakery because I wanted to purchase from a shop that had a clear and organized website. I was drawn by their variety in birthday cakes. Wow, I never had a dessert before that was just the right amount of sweet. Even the icing wasn’t overpowering in sweetness. If you don’t like dry cake this place is for you, it has a good amount of moisture. If you do decide on this cake and have OCD be mindful the top layer of chocolate is hard so it is noticeable when candles and toppers pierce through, but I didn’t mind. My daughter’s birthday guests all gave compliments to my choice in dessert. Will purchase from them again!
