I have enjoyed living here for the most part but a couple things: 1. If I would’ve signed my lease renewal my base rent would've gone up by $320 and is the same amount that a new resident would pay. This is insane. No care for current residents who have paid on time. 2. There is a real safety concern in the garage because there is absolutely no signal it is a complete dead zone- and the elevators are extremely slow I fear going in there at night each time. Please have pepper spray 2a. You will not have signal until you reach your apartment I have Verizon 3. The garage is broken consistently and I have never seen security even when it was left open for 2+ weeks. All in all the location is great. The maintenance is A1. They will even mount your TV for free. Is it worth over 1900 when I was paying under 1500? Absolutely not.
I have enjoyed living in the Calais Midtown apartments. The staff is friendly and very conscious of your needs. The apartments are much larger than other apartments. But once you step inside and see the archways and columns you will feel the character that these apartments brings. I have had the chance to live in 3 different style's of apartments here and each one suited my needs for that time in my life. When they say its in walking distance they mean it, so much to do right outside your door. Only 2 miles from downtown an easy train or Uber ride.
I moved in here about 2 months ago, and I’ve really enjoyed it! Its in a great location, everything is nearby. It’s always clean from what I’ve seen. And everyone in the office is always very friendly and happy to help. The apartments are of course subject to normal city noises, so don’t expect absolute quiet. Overall I’d say if you can afford it definitely give it a look.
I moved here in March of 2022. I love the view from my apartment and the people in the office are pleasant and tend to handle concerns quickly however; if you are physically impaired DO NOT I REPEAT, DO NOT MOVE HERE!! The elevators especially in building 3 are constantly down and have been down at least once a month since I moved here. Prior to me moving in I asked about the elevator and the condition. I was advised that it may go down periodically for maintenance but, nothing like it has been. Try walking up 4 flights of stairs in Texas heat with documented health issues and with a cart full of groceries. As someone who pays her rent by the 1st of each month, I’m starting to feel like a credit should be given each time the elevator is down.
Calais Midtown is by far the worst apartment I’ve ever stayed in. It does not even deserve 1 star. I moved here due to the privacy of the gated parking garage and the security of having a code in order to get in to the building which made me very relaxed when I first moved in. I’ve been staying here for several months and a week after I moved in I found a homeless guy sleeping in side the building by my apartment door on the floor that you can’t even access to without a code. Which brings me to saying the elevators and the garage doors have been broken since after the first week of me moving in. I called them to express my concern and my worries at this point with no answer or no returned phone call after I left several messages. I then called again to state how I feel and she stated I should have called the police that the apartment has nothing to do with that but keep in mind the reason that he even got access to the floor is due to the garage and elevators always being broken. They send out constant emails stating that things will be fixed and NEVER DO. So if anyone wants to move here I highly suggest you do a lot of research first before you consider this apartment. It is located in midtown and it’s a very noisy area the walls are thin and you can here everything LITERALLY!!!!
This is a beautiful property and the staff truly makes all the difference. I toured this property and not only was the staff thorough when it came to making sure I got to see all of the amenities and was aware of all of the options available but they were very kind and patient with the process. I’m not looking to move for a couple of more months but this complex is absolutely a front runner due to the staff quality alone.
Calais Midtown throws the BEST resident events! My favorite was when they brought the fire dancer, and they also get us a section with a free drink at Pour Behavior. The leasing staff is by far the friendliest people that I have met so far! COME LEASE AT CALAIS MIDTOWN!
I've been living here for 5 months now and really have enjoyed my stay! The staff is nice and always provide reasonable answers to my questions. Maintenance, building cleaners inside and outside and trash are top tier! I watch them clean the public sidewalks around the building every morning. Green friendly environment, provide recycle options. They host ALOT of resident events which is cool b/c you get to know your neighbors better. Event locations vary from in the complex or at a local bar sponsored by the complex! This past weekend we had an end of summer party with fire dancers, food trucks, a dj, and adult friendly beverages! Also, they have off duty police servicing the property if theres an emergency after hours which is comforting. Its pretty pricey everywhere these days so I recommend Calias because you get a bang for your buck! Everyone is great but ask for Terrell Latimer, he is the BEST!
Mediocre place to live for a year, anything longer than that and the inconveniences tend to grate on you. I've lived here for one and a half years now and in that time: The water has gone out multiple times with no bad weather to be blamed. I once brought some friends over only to find out that my apartment didn't have water, which was pretty embarrassing as you might imagine. It hasn't gone out recently but the fact that happened at all let alone multiple times is kind of crazy in the 21st century. The elevator in building 3 has probably been broken for a cumulative total of 2 to 3 months it's currently out again for "service" for 2 weeks now maybe this time it'll actually be fixed! so I've been walking up and down 5 flights of stairs that are not climate controlled. The last flight of stairs feels like it reaches 110 degrees in the summer. The garage gate has been broken for at least 4 months cumulatively with them "actively searching for a solution". The person who was parked next to me actually had their window smashed and their car broken into one time when the gate was broken so security is definitely a concern. And since Venterra doesn't charge for communal spaces in the 110$ amenity fee you pay every month, they have no liability in actively maintaining the general facility. Apparently communal services like garage gates and elevators are privileges for residents, not something that's included as part of the thousands of dollars you spend on rent. If you're fine with those glaring issues the apartments themselves are decent. Nothing special or negative to write about there. The leasing office staff and maintenance team are the only real saving grace for this complex, they're extremely nice and responsive. Unfortunately nice words and trying their best won't do anything in the face Venterra's blatant unwillingness to maintain the facility. The rates are just expensive as anywhere else in midtown so you can definitely find a better place, but if you have no other options this place will last you a year, just lock your car and don't keep any valuables inside of it. Unless you have any form of disability or struggle with stairs. If you do, definitely look elsewhere.
Great complex! The units are very spacious, affordable for midtown and it’s in a great location with easy access to get anywhere. The new property manger was a pleasure to work with and my clients are excited to move in!
