CAMC General Hospital

If I could give no stars I would. The nurses laugh at you. They have absolutely no sympathy or empathy for any of the patients. No organization skills. No response on test results. We have never been so disrespected in our entire lives. Hopefully if you must go there they will decide to like you. If not prepare for a flashback to junior high.

The one star rating I’m giving is solely for the ER. The waiting room was the nastiest waiting room I have ever sat in. There were newspaper laying in the floor that looked as though it had urine on it along with the table it was next to, there was a dirty sock, a cigarette butt & a wet floor sign laying on the floor that none of the staff fixed. My mother had spilled a pop in their floor, I told the security guard who then said he would call for maintenance and they didn’t show up for a good 30 minutes. The bathrooms are absolutely filthy. The ER rooms are just as nasty. My grandmother was in their room for about 3 hours. The nurse who was refilling her IV bags would push the trash down and then go back to fixing the mediciation. The floors were a mess. The trash can was larger than mine in my kitchen and was over flowing with trash, no way possible it was just from my grandmother’s stay. They asked her to give a urine sample that they then left on her table the entire time. Completely ridiculous. BUT when she was sent to her room that was on floor 6S, it was a completely different story. The rooms were clean and up to date, maintenance cleaned up and changed trash regularly, everyone was very friendly, & the doctor & nurses were very nice. However even the waiting area for the surgical room was a mess. There were used tissues and empty coffee cups that had been there for who knows how long, they were still there when we left. And the hospital is in the center of a very dirty town. Thankfully, her procedure went well and I do want to thank the wonderful nurses and doctors for being so good to her and my grandfather during their stay. They even ordered him meals when hers came. Had it not been for sanitary purposes, this would be a great hospital. But with all the sicknesses coming in and out of hospitals, there’s no excuse for the poor sanitation of that place.

The worst ER ever! Dirty, inattentive "nurses" who are too busy talking on the phone and joking about patients to do their jobs. ER emptied now but I am STILL laying on a bed in the hall. I was told 4-1/2 hours ago I was being admitted. Asked for pain .medication nearly 3 hours ago after laying here since 4:30. This place is a sad excuse for a ER hospital.

Place is disgustingly dirty. They don't feel the need to clean, but are so strict they wouldn't let my children, well behaved and ages 11 & 12, visit their grandmother. They supposedly want people to get better here, but deny them the one thing (their grandchildren) that would help them to feel better.

I advise nobody go to this hospital because it's terrible and the way the nurse's in micu treated my sister was wrong and they don't allow her back up there even during visiting hours. She really wasn't doing anything just trying to help with her boyfriend because the nurse's was busy and also they got rude and nasty with my sister and the hospital don't deserve a one star. I don't approve of what they did to my sister. Even the bathrooms are nasty and I don't think it's right that my sister can't even visit.
