Best of luck to anyone who chooses to make this their new home.. The few positive things about the place is the view of the airport, location, and great concierges without a doubt. Unfortunately that’s all overshadowed by many downfalls of this place. First off, at least 1-2 of the 4 elevators are broken every single day and may not be repaired for months. Secondly, they added their own entry system which made it significantly more difficult to access the building because half of the time it wouldn’t work. A MAJOR issue I had during my time here was in February, when all 4 wheels were stolen off my car, because BOTH garage doors were wide open and broken; leaving my car sitting on 2 boxes of ceramic tile that the apartment staff left out in the garage! It was extremely difficult to get them to let me see the video footage or the Police! I couldn’t believe it.. a felony was committed in their garage, and they could care less! Lastly, upon moving out, I did every step required of me including the pre-move out inspection; and was billed almost $60 for ‘Apartment Paint’. As if this place hasn’t already caused me enough money and headache I couldn’t even believe it. After having $11,000 in damages to my car due to their negligence, while the concierge on duty was watching the cameras and both garage doors were broken, they had the audacity to charge me for touch up paint which they provided me saying that it didn’t ‘blend well’. Good luck is all I can say…but personally I would never choose to rent here, or from a Camden property again!
Camden Potomac Yard is a comfortable property in Arlington, VA. The best quality is the location and the unit layouts. It is walking distance from Harris teeter which is great when the weather is horrible. It has a bus stop on the property with a short ride to Old Town Alexandria or walk to Crystal City metro. The Potomac Yard Shopping Center and Crystal City neighborhood offers a great variety of restaurants, stores and banks. The unit layouts are spacious and offer balconies. Unit renovations in the past year offer some modern touches. I would rent from the Camden property again. I do have to add elevator service was horrible when we moved to a floor that required it. Also, the new smart lock system uses an app that requires GPS and Bluetooth from your phone. This can be a pain when the door reader isn't cooperating. You can use a digital code as a backup but then everybody is sharing the same digital code and it probably does not change. So now that has an effect on the building's security. For these reasons, I give Camden 4 stars.
Poorly managed. Nuisance smoke alarms in the units when you use the oven, no doubt a sign that the wrong smoke alarms are being used. Elevators are down for weeks. There is no enforcement of pet owners cleaning up after themselves. You have to walk the halls constantly checking your shoes. Concierge staff is amazing though. The problems are beyond their control.
I would recommend not to live here. With the amount you pay on rent, you could move somewhere newer. I just applied for an apartment at the property. The process was easy and the management staff was extremely helpful and welcoming! The property is well kept on the outside, with a beautifully decorative interior. Great roof top pool area, which i look forward to enjoying once COVID is over.
One star is for the staff--concierges, maintenance, leasing & management are friendly--a lot of the issues here are out of their control. In my seven months here, THREE cars have either been broken into or had tires stolen due to broken garage doors. No parking security fees waived for any residents during the time of broken doors. The vendors Camden outsources are god-awful--the elevators are "fixed" and then break down a day or two later--doesn't seem like a big deal until you live on the 12th floor and it takes ten minutes to get to the parking garage. No particular issues with my unit, but this is by no means "luxury living" as advertised. Nor is it safe. Stay clear, and don't bite the bullet despite it being cheaper than other places out here. P.S. Cockroaches are everywhere at night. UPDATE a month later: Trash reeks throughout the entire building, electricity bills are sky rocketing my roommate and I are paying double what we were last month due to Camden's outdated units, our advertised security garage door is broken once again & the parking garage is a sauna. DO. NOT. LIVE. HERE.
The worst experience ever. I had been trying for about a week to get an apartment. Mya was not very knowledgeable and I did a price hold and they kept giving me the run around to apply until the price went back up and the manager Kevin is no good either. Please be careful if you decide to lease from them and they kept coming up with more fees.
We are coming up on three years at Camden Potomac Yard and can’t say enough great things. Briana has been one of the best community managers, anything I bring up little or big she’s ready to help get it fixed right away. Christain is also such a big help, and works hard to keep everyone as happy as can be. The leasing team is so diligent and I always feel welcomed. My dog is absolutely obsessed with the whole team especially the maintenance team!! We can’t spot them anywhere with out her needing to say hi to them. Everyone truly makes you feel at home and we’ve loved every second of our stay. Thank you team for all that you do
