Cute spot but it’s just okay. The restaurant had a lot going on. Seems like a bar with the bar and high stool seating for the communal area. It had TVs hanging on every wall. Then there are dine in seating. The food is alright, no to rave about. The portions are similar to a tapas, it’s meant to be shared to order a couple plates. Decent selection of drinks, wished they had a drinks menu instead of having the wait staff reciting it. Came here around 7pm on Friday, it was practically empty. During the course of our dinner, the place quickly filled up. Come here early to get seats. The wait staff are attentive, they were on top of clearing empty plates and refilling our drinks.
The food was delicious and well made! Really enjoyed the lotus salad which was a little spicy and this beef noodle soup we had! The soup dumplings were also a nice treat but wasn't amazed by the pork kimchi dumplings. Service was very nice and attentive. The only sad part was that we were not able to try the black sesame ice cream because they had run out of their entire dessert menu.
This food was excellent! I visited Carma East with my friends and they are also happy with the food and service. We have chosen from the mixes all Dim Sams, Taiwanese Crispy Chicken, Authentic Taiwanese Beef Soup Nudles, Housemade Ice Create Ginger. Beautiful decoration of dishes. The bar is very clean and cozy, good lighting, good location. I recommend visiting Carma East. I will come back again
Hands down the best taiwanese style beef noodle soup I've tasted in the city. Better than even tasty hand pulled noodles and all the random places in ctown. The beef is incredibly soft and delicious. The crispy pies are also really good.
The food was good but it didn’t quite get there for me to justify the steep prices. The place is cute, on the smaller side. Most devastating for us: no more baijiu cocktails! They now only serve low-proof cocktails and sake, which doesn’t quite feel right. Our poor waiter was also incredibly overwhelmed, there were only two guys staffing the place. Awkward for dim sum when you want to be able to wave down servers to keep putting in more orders....especially once you find out how small the portions are.
Good food and good service. The price is actually very reasonable. We got soup dumplings, stir fried Taiwanese noodles with beef, spinach tofu soup, and black tea. The noodles dish was very tasty and well seasoned, while we found the soup dumplings not as good as expected. The wrap of the dumplings were a bit thick, making it less tasty. The broth inside the dumplings was good though. Black tea was expensive, it was double the price of the spinach soup. The table next to us had the special chickens and they gave a lot of compliments for the dish. We may come back to try the chickens. Next time then.
Very trendy taiwanese/chinese restaurant in alphabet city. The ambiance is something your basic millennial would enjoy. It was also pretty busy last Friday night when my friend and I visited. By 6:30 pm, the place was half full with the rest of the tables reserved. We ended up getting a two person table for an hour the server told us... Luckily we had a small meal already before coming and was looking for another small bite so the time "limit" was fine with us. I came wanting to try their baijiu cocktails but was told there's only beer or wine, so that was disappointing. Trying to eat gluten free, I asked if I can get the beef noodle soup with rice noodles. That was not an option so we ordered the Three Cup Chicken , Wontons in Red Chili Oil , and the Angry Pork Feet . That was plenty of food for us as we had already eaten. Lots of people ordered their dim sum items which we did not try. The port feet was the best dish although a bit salty. It was cooked with what smelled like Chinese herbs and lots of soy sauce my guess. The three cup chicken was too sweet for me but my friend liked it. The wontons were tasty but the red chili oil was more of a sweeter version with too much sesame oil for my taste. With the restaurant full and just one server with the seemingly manager on duty helping her, the service was not great.
The food was good but the waitress was rude. When we came in she said the kitchen will close in 5 min so we have to order as soon as possible. We ordered the food and the waitress started play on her phone. She didn’t bring us any drink until I asked her. She was on her phone the entire lunch. The whole meal is about $36 and we paid $40 for everything. She stoped me and ask for 20% tips. We will never come back for this attitude. Not recommend at all.
507 E 6th St New York, NY 10009 b/t Avenue B & Avenue A East Village Had a little tasting with some foodies yesterday @omgitsbomb / @last_supper / @ehgg We had an assortment of dumplings from Sticky Rice Shumai, five vegetable dumpling, Dim sum platter Taiwanese Beef Noodles The Hulk Fried Rice, and a pink and pretty cocktail. This place is off the beaten path from avenue a, A trip to check out. The Taiwanese was a tables favorite and suggested by those who have came before. The skin of the dumplings were very soft and strong, a very nice mix of vegetarian options. Orange was leek, and shrimp. The hulk fried rice was a nice touch, who doesn't like some green rice! Best asian food in East village. A little bit of everything for almost anyone's palette. Quality ingredients and great service coupled with a nice atmosphere make this a great place to grab something to go on your way home or to take visiting friends and family.
