Graduated Chelsea in 1968. Trained to be an electrician. Took the Air Force Qualifying Exam and because I had a good (great) electrical foundation, and tested well, I was selected to attend one of the longest and best schools the AF had to offer an 18 year old High School Graduate. One year of training to become a Ground Radio Repairman at Keesler AFB in Biloxi Mississippi. Traveled all over the world, working my way off the bench to become a Maintenance Superintendent supervising technicians responsible for communications associated with Tactical Nuclear Weapons during the Cold War. Retired after 20 years as a Senior Non Commissioned Officer at the age of 38 (Lifetime Pension). Worked for another 25 years as my own boss owning various businesses and retired again at age 65 (Second Life Time Pension). Learned to fly airplanes and sail "big" sail boats in the Mediterranean and continued to travel the globe. Chelsea taught me more than a trade. It taught me how to take the next step in life. As a Brooklyn boy growing up we didn't have much and didn't expect much. At Chelsea I met other people from all over NY. I learned more about the Puerto Ricans, the African Americans, the Irish, Italians, Chinese and other ethnicities and cultural differences. I watched the outside world and saw that most talented people came from NY, and I hoped to be one more of those talented New Yorker's from the streets of Brooklyn. Chelsea was a good choice for me even though many said "go to a normal" High School. I look back today and feel my life has been a success. I look back and remember that it all really began at Chelsea Vocational High School. Not only the students, but the teachers I now realize didn't have to be there. They could have taught anywhere. But they chose Chelsea to my great Luck. Thank You for that. - John Kittany

Horrible school in the 90's. low ranking academic standards cost me to miss my first semester of college. Terrible student, high crime, daily fights. I am sure it's probably a lot better today though.
