We did the sunset dolphin kayak tour and it was a great experience! The tour guides were incredible and very knowledgeable about the area. The waters were slightly rough when we were out but it was manageable. The sunset was really nice on the water and there was plently of dolphins to be seen! I would highly recommend this to anyone who is in the area!
What an amazing first kayak experience! Not only were Tommy and Ryan fun and knowledgeable about the park and wildlife, but the dolphins were incredible. Tommy and Ryan knew exactly where to go for the best spotting and it was incredible. Highly recommend the sunset ride because the views in the Chesapeake were amazing. Cannot recommend Chesapean Outdoors enough!
I did the kayak with dolphins tour today and it was so awesome! We saw so many dolphins close up, too many to count really! Close enough to hear them breathe when they came up by our kayaks. Even some lil baby ones I highly recommend this tour. Our guide was wonderful and even took pics and videos and then later airdropped them to us so we could just enjoy the time on the water with the beautiful dolphins. We also saw osprey, Spanish mackerel, lots of pelicans and some other birds. Wonderful adventure!
My wife and I recently did both the dolphin kayak tour and a private surf lesson for our anniversary. These are an absolute MUST if you're in VA beach! The owners and all the staff obviously care so much about what they do, about their guests' experience, and about the area. We can't wait to get back! The surf lesson was amazing. Our instructor was incredibly knowledgeable, helpful, and patient. Before the lesson we didn't think we'd be able to do much in just one session but we both were able to stand and get some great rides in! The dolphin tour we did the evening tour was also amazing. We saw over a dozen dolphins and some swam right around us, within about 20 yards. The guides gave great information about the area. Even though the tour was given in a group with people we'd never met, it often felt like a private tour with how the guides gave one-on-one time to each guest.
1 million stars! My daughter and I did the kayak dolphin tour. our guides were Tommy and Blaze. Not only did we see plenty of dolphins, but Tommy was a great guide and shared his wealth of sea life knowledge with us. During our tour we saw a turtle that he wasn’t familiar with so he reached out to one of his connections at the aquarium and told us all about the turtle that we found. We definitely do it again and certainly recommend it to others. It was a great upper body workout for the day as well
Michael was our guide today and he took my family of 4 out today and we enjoyed a beautiful morning of paddling at First Landing State Park. We took a leisurely trip out on the water. He allowed us to set the pace and gave us a wonderful history lesson of the area sprinkled with personal stories of growing up paddling the same waters. We enjoyed our rest stops on a couple beaches and beautiful views of the area. Michael was the perfect guide and truly made our experience memorable! We were able to spot a bald eagle and several ospreys during our trip! I would highly recommend this tour for families who want to explore, we are so very happy we did!!!
Just got back from a dolphin and sunset tour. It was a great time and we managed to work around the weather and down tree across the road because of storms. Because the ocean was a little more rough they had extra guides for safety. They explained things in details and ways to keep yourself safe in the kayaks that you sit on top of, not in. We felt safe with the extra guides and my daughter went with one of them since we're a party of 3 while we remained close by. Although the price was more than we wanted to pay it seemed to be the going rate for the area and time of year with inflation. The guide that went with my daughter made her feel safe and made sure she was enjoying herself. We probably viewed a few dozen dolphin and babies at minimum in the area and rather close and some pelicans. The equipment was in working order and not beat up. Prepare yourself to get wet on those type kayaks and bring something to keep your items safe or use their drybags. They communicated very well the entire trip given the circumstances with weather. Well done! I would go again.
Our family went kayaking today and loved our experience with Chesapean Outdoors. “Captain Fun” Matt was kind and informative and the price was right. We’d definitely use them again for fun on the water!
We had an exciting afternoon kayaking. Our guide great! He made sure everyone felt safe and we were all comfortable in our kayaks. Then we were off and we saw 3 pods of dolphins!! Our guide took photos, so all we had to do was enjoy our trip.
We did the 5:30pm dolphin kayak tour that leaves from First Landing State Park. The guide was awesome. He gave us a detailed lesson on how the passive fishing nets are used at the end of the poles. He pointed out and named every bit of wildlife around. Several types of birds and dolphins. Yes we saw bottlenose dolphins. They were in a group of about four and were within 10 to 15 feet of our kayak group. Our guide also recommended the best local restaurants. I wish we had pictures of the dolphins, but I opted to leave my phone ashore for safe keeping.
