Staff were friendly here and the shop was cute. Their sour dough was chewy, and u can taste the nice wheat smell. Their coffee cake was kinda sticky on the top with candied pecan, soft and crumbling under. I’m not a fan but still good when u want a simple sweet treat. The petit kouign I got was raspberry flavor. It was a little bit soggy at the outside layer but still tasted good! Their sour dough is a classic. Not the best best but good to visit and take one home when u r around.
A cute bakery in the neighborhood. They sell variety of items like bread, croissants, puffs, pastries, macarons, small sandwiches, hot and cold beverages. All items are named French, sometimes hard to tell the item from the name. I loved the chouquettes and madeleines. Soft and delicious. The lemonade was good too. They have a sitting area on the second floor, but it closes earlier than the store. Currently food consumption is not allowed at the bakery 1st floor. But I liked the esthetic of the store, very modern look. There only paid street parking around the store, if you are not local, prepare to drive around to find a parking spot.
Couldnt believe this is a chain cafe! Good but not great pastries and decent coffee. Uber fast service. What I love about this location is the upstair space that is very cosy and nostalgic. Several items are only available during the weekends so it's better to check with the stores before hand.
The pie and the breads are really good here. I love getting the focaccia bread and baguettes. The staff is very friendly and can answer all of your stupid bakery questions! Also check out the upstair! Def coming back!
A fresh crispy Kouign-amann is shown on TV as my boyfriend and I watch a youtube video, crispy and sweet brings me memories of when I was a pastry student and how it brought me to Choc O Pain. After many years I am relieved to find that the quality of the pastries are still high and a wonder of french work. I remember studying Baking and French Pastry and having an opportunity to complete my internship at Choc O Pain and just knowing that all these delicious french pastries will be created. The joy that people experience as they take a bite of a fresh french pastry thats layered with quality butter and executed with perfection is a one of a kind experience, an experience you can have at Choc O Pain. During this reconnection with my past, I enjoyed some mini Kougins and some flaky crossaints. The best companion with a Chai Tea latte with oat milk. A wonderful breakfast that helped me reminiscence of a past filled with french pastries and cakes.
Staff is friendly, the space is cute and the vibes are nice. WiFi is okay and prices seem reasonable for Hoboken? The vanilla chai latte I got was pretty good but the reason I’m taking a star off is that the baked goods are sub-par in my opinion. My croissant was too chewy and had almost a bread like texture.
Nice place to work at upstairs and downstairs space, but everything I tried tastes not great, so I don’t recommend. Chcopain croissant is not as good as a Starbucks chocolate croissant, and both times I got it, still cold on the inside after heating.
Great staff and bread - and I only recently discovered the cool seating area on the 2nd floor there are some kids books up there if you have a kid. It's nice to see new treats offered now and then - but aside from a baguette, my go to's are the Madeline's and macarons. Rating is 4-stars only because the price jumped up quite a bit. I'm sure costs went up - and I certainly want them to stay in business. But still felt pretty dramatic. I have a bunch of points saved up here to redeem for coffee drinks - one day I'll use them... One day.
This is my go-to spot pre prospecting & heading to my office to start a long workday. The staff are incredibly friendly, they know my order now by heart & the coffee is strong, bold & great quality. Highly recommend!!!
Super nice place and super delicious. If you are looking for place to work, read a book or meeting you friend for coffee this is your place. This place is nice, you have upper floor with tables and sofas. Also everything is super delicious the bakery and the menu for lunch soup and sandwiches. There are also a lot of vegan lunch options. And the nicest part you have french music in the background. You don't want to miss this place.
