I saw Dr Chock I was having trouble swallowing and he examined me with a scope down my nose and told me I had swelling just above my voice box. He said I needed a CT scan of my neck stat and we tried to get a same day appointment which was impossible. Dr said you need to go to the Queens ER and tell them what I found. This was the exact advice I needed because it turns out I had a life threatening condition and was admitted to the hospital. I will be externally grateful to Dr Chock.
Find another ENT!! Worst experience ever. Dr. Chock was rude, mean, unaffected and unapologetic when I verbalized he was causing me pain. If there was a zero star option, he’d get it. He should retire!! He obviously doesn’t enjoy helping patients.
This doctor prescribed me medicine that left me in the ER! Upon further research of said drug, all major medical reference web sites discourage the dose and duration that he gave me. Let alone they also recommend some kind of steroid or anti-inflammatory combined with such a high dose. The ER doctors were puzzled. Why would a fit 30 year old have such random and rapid major joint and muscle pain? Puzzled until I told them that I finished Dr. Chock's RX less than 48 hours before all of this happened. One week later and I can't walk. My joints in my legs, neck, and back feel like I have ice picks. Malpractice! I should have seen the red flag when he was xerox ads for cook books taped on his desk. Or when I called he fit me in that very second on a weekend. I should have just lived with my cough. My professional, personal, physical, and mental state has all been utterly disturbed from this mans lack of medical knowledge. Why would you give someone who had a dry cough RX that treats active TB, anthrax etc??
I was referred to this so-called specialist today for problems I've been having with my jaw for some time, but more consistently the past few months after biting into a dry sandwich. He proceeded to scold me about needing to change my diet and stop eating big fat sandwiches so I wouldn't have jaw problems. He complained about my doctor's notes not having the information he needed to treat me and even blamed me for not having brought him the x-rays and notes from the dentist myself and that I should've written down the exact terminology the dentist described as being the cause of my issue. He scolded me for not knowing why I was there and wasting his time. I finally got up and said I didn't come here to waste my time with his rudeness and inappropriateness and proceeded to walk out. He even followed me out into the front office as he continued to argue with me that he wasn't being rude. I told him again that he was as I exited his office. I was so upset I was shaking and couldn't even get on the elevator. I walked towards his office and called my doctor's office and left a message regarding my experience. As soon as I got home I called my insurance provider to file a formal complaint. I should've seen the red flag when a specialist had openings the next day. I've never felt so belittled in my entire life! I'm still upset and shaken and even had to hold back tears as I was on the phone with my insurance. I wouldn't wish this horrible experience on anyone!
Best ENT I've seen by far. Dr. Chock & Staff were very welcoming and he helped with an ear infection that I was dealing with for 2 years. He was the only dr that had the audacity to take a culture to find the root of a problem. He ran all the tests to help me. Its been a painful & long experience but because of Dr. Chock I got my life back and on my way to 100% recovery. Thank you so much!!! I am truly blessed to have met you!!!!
Moved from NYC six years ago. While on trip back to NYC in Nov. I developed a major ear problem that caused me to go to an ENT in Manhattan who I went to in 1997. Instead of being able to see the doctor who helped me I was assigned another ENT who prescribed minor surgery and major steroids. His bedside manor was deplorable. I opted out of surgery but did take the steroids for a week before flying home to Oahu. My condition declined rapidly. I was LUCKY to be able to get an appoint with Dr. Chock since just about all the other ENT’s on Oahu were on vacation. Dr. Chock examined me and asked me what the other Dr’s had said and prescribed. When I told him he became quite upset. He said that I had a lot of fluid in back of both ears with a major infection and that what had been prescribe to me only intensified my problem. He put me on a very intensive protocol of antibiotics and other medications. He saw me three times. After over a month EVERYTHING TOTALLY CLEARED UP. Dr. Chock will be my go to ENT from now on.
THE absolute worst doctor in general, not just ENT I have ever seen. Went in to check out some minor sinusitis. The jerk didn't even introduce himself like a human being, just barked instructions like "come" and "sit". He proceeded to jam a probe into both ears, causing me excruciating pain enough to cry. I begged him to stop, but he just kept on roughly shoving my head to the other side and screaming, actually screaming and blaming me for the pain. When I had enough, in about five minutes, I just stomped out of the office in a hurry without saying anything to him, just trying to be as civil as possible. He caused a big scene and everyone in the office was looking at us. Do not go to see this sadistic psychopath unless you're some kind of masochist, he WILL hurt you. Badly. Went to an octogenarian ENT on the verge of retirement previously, and he never ever did this to me. AVOID
Very proactive Doctor. He didn't just brush me off like it was all in my head. He even helped me see a neurologist right away for my condition. I am very appreciative of his help.
He listened to my concerns and gave me options and explanations as well as cautions about taking Prednisone. He was very knowledgeable and attentive.
