Came around 11 for a manapua pick up I had made online. Service was a bit a low even with doing the online pay and pick up. There wasn't a separate place to go, I still had to stand in the regular line. Enjoy the food as always though. I live the pork eggplant and garlic chicken. Oh and the rice cake
They stuffed my container with so much food! It barely closed! The garlic chicken is Good. Everything was Good My picture was from already eaten box. I was full.. Food is yummy!!Food: 5/5
Chun Wah Kam's is THE place for manapua!!! This is our spot when headed out for a beach day, we order manapua and crispy kau gee for everyone on the way out. Fair warning, you have to get there early to get in on the kau gee. They are perfectly crispy without being oily, great meat ratio and the flavor is outstanding. The steamed manapua are incredible, best we've ever had. We tend to go with the standard char siu but have never been disappointed, even had to get baked once because steamed were sold out and they were still really good. As if that wasn't enough, their Chinese restaurant style 2 and 3 choice meals are always delicious. The helpings are BEYOND generous and every component of the dishes are tasty...this is the first place I've ordered beef broccoli where the broccoli was truly tasty and not just an afterthought. HIGHLY recommend the "green rice", this is my potluck go to and people always want the recipe
Like whoa! Pretty good food and many selections of manapua. I paid $25.85 for my food and I thought I ordered too much but for that price? that's a good deal. I only ordered from the manapua and dim sum menu. They accept debit/credit/cash, no public bathroom, and no outside seatings. First thing you do is pick a number and they will call once your number is up. You can choose from the menu board with a wide selection of food in front of you displayed. All the staff gets to serve you and the person who calls your number will be the person to ring you up. Always nice to chat with them and they suggested some good food from the menu. I ordered the gyoza, which it would've been nice if it was a bit crunchy the meat was tasty though, the pizza manapua which taste like pizza no pepperoni though!, shoyu chicken, spicy pork, pork hash, half moon daikon, dried shrimp, and char siu, rice cake. All good food and I would recommend this place to anyone. Support local.
Our food was luke warm and chewy. Flavor was fine. The portions are huge which is either good or bad, depending on if you like the food. We came at 4pm which was admittedly a weird time, but they were out of the first 3 things we tried to order. We ended up with a manapua and a “mini plate” with noodles, garlic chicken rice, teriyaki chicken and sweet and sour pork.
It can get crowded, & some things can sell out fast for the items they make a specific limited amount of daily. I try to plan ahead for manapua/fried saimin runs & call when they open in the morning and place a phone order w/ a pick up time, curtailing the ol' "Sorry, that's sold out" line usually for the Hot Dog Manapua & Halfmoon as well as the wait & order actual line. Speaking of half moon, as some of you might know, they 86'd Pepeiau from the menu awhile ago instead, making only Halfmoon since the only real difference was the shape. There was even a moment where it seemed they also cut the Halfmoon. I'm happy to report that despite the possibly of them selling out fast, the **Halfmoon still exists... well... sorta! Now it's a Frankenstein Halfmoon! It's been "altered"! Roundish ends like a Pepeiau, but long like the Halfmoon. Franken-Moon! Think Kiwi... only not fruity or fuzzy! They're still calling it Halfmoon, despite it not being shaped like a half of a moon anymore. Doubt they'd want to go with my Franken-moons, & Kiwi is already taken. Truthfully, I don't mind. It taste's the same & I kinda like the new shape! **See photos. Not too happy about the change in the "QUART" sized container though. A few weeks ago, I came in for my Fried Saimin fix & my honey reminded me to open the boxes to check as I was shorted 6 Halfmoons once, & never got around to remedying that problem. When I saw the noodle box, I freaked. I thought they gave me the wrong size as it looked obviously smaller than what I usually get. Walked it back in to check the stack. That's when I saw the 2 smaller sized containers had changed. An older lady had come out from the back & was behind the counter. She saw me standing there with the puzzled look on my face with the container in my hand, & asked if I had a question. I said, " Is this a quart? It looks much smaller than the container I used to get!" She replied, "Yes, that's the quart." I said, "Oh... it looks & feels smaller." She replies, "Only little bit smaller." Hmmmmm... ooookaaay. So that was a bit disappointing. It sure seemed like less too as it didnt last for the usual number of lunches I used to get out of the round quart container. Ended up ordering the almost double in price $16 "Family Size" container this time to make up for the difference. Hmmmm... maybe... Will that disappointment keep me from coming back? Well, the fact that I just spent 50sumthin'+ $$s here today would answer that question I guess! Plus... Hey.... They take Discover!! I sure LOVE 5% Cash Back Bonus on "Restaurants" quarter! This year, July thru Sept! Just spent $78 at Roast Duck Kitchen last week, and...*Sigh* ... No 5% Cash Back. I am so close to hitting $400 in my Bonus Bucks. Every penny helps! Hehehe... *Squeak-Squeak*
Charged $12 for a bowl... then the chicken was way too salty. The picture shows I will not be eating that chicken.
..since I live in Pearl City - the Aiea location is my "go to" if I'm craving Steamed Char Sui Manapua... ..had to pick up some "Manapua" since I came back from Seattle, WA last week...went to Chinatown there and couldn't find any place that had "Pork Bao"...
Always great and tasty food. The staff is very helpful in giving information about the dishes and the selection of food is large as well. They're very generous with the amount of food given to fill the container. The Manapua does come in baked or steamed. All those other add-ons are freshly made.
I just spent $55 and I had to pay for hot mustard...now that's messed up!!...short staffed and the line was out the door..I know businesses are having a hard time making a come back after the pandemic...so sad
