Some of the worst ramen I've ever had in my life!! Where do I start? I have been a Maps Local Guide for a long time and this is the longest review I have ever written. First, you can't call something tan tan men if there isn't any chili oil in it! You could literally have a bowl of hot garbage with some broth, noodles and chili oil and call it tan tan men. This bowl met that criteria in that description, except they left out the chili oil. Next, the toppings. I ordered the vegetable tan tan men, which had porcini, dry-as-hell button mushrooms, and disappointingly, a single shiitake. There were also unevenly sliced carrots and some sort of green, which the chef decided to take the nearly raw stems of and slice into small discs, making them almost inedible with chopsticks. I opted to add their chashu to my ramen. The texture was actually good 4/5, but left much to be desired with it's bland taste 2.5/5. Next, the ultimate downfall of this dish, the broth. Could a broth be more bland? Could a ramen broth be so removed from it's Japanese origins that you question whether there is even a hint of umami inside it? Could a ramen broth be so reliant on a single ingredient that they would name a restaurant after it sesame? These were some of the questions that ran through my head as I attempted to slurp down this sesame sludge. The store is named goma sesame tei for a reason. They attempt to cover up their flavorless broth with a sesame paste, which may have been a slightly redeeming quality if it weren't for the poor execution by the cooks. Inside my ramen were giant chunks of undissolved sesame paste, which I had the unfortunate experience of squishing between my flappy-mouth-muscle and hard-pearly-bits. The trauma of which, I will not be forgetting for quite some time. Lastly, the mini curry wasn't bad. I will not elaborate further for fear of giving this store any sense of undeserved self-confidence. Overall, I'm angry and traumatized. How could a ramen be so bad? How could a bowl of hot garbage be paraded around as the signature dish of a chain of restaurants? Dear reader, I implore you, do not seek the answers to these questions yourself. Go spend your time and money on something of value.
Aloha; the only thing good about this location is just that. You can make better remen at home. Probably one of the worst ramens I have ever had. The service was also horrible, asked about chillie oil- we already cleaned it and put it away. Goyza came out after I was already half done and it had so much oil on the plate. And on too of all that they have thier supplies right there against the wall in boxes for you to see. Very unprofessional. Only thing positive is location.
Everything thing is onolicious!! Went again today ordered a delicious tan tan wonton Ramen with extra noodles, side of char siu and 4 super yummy ajitama eggs. As we expected delish...so much was ordered extra noodles because my daughter and I split everything. Saves $$ from ordering 2 ramen bowls and it's the perfect amount.Dine in: YesOutdoor seating: NoTakeout: Yes
Very delicious and tasty food. Friendly staff and fast service. Seafood miso ramen was very tasty. We also got the odon chicken katsu curry which is highly recommended too. It is located in uptown and 1st floor area of Pearlridge Shopping Mall. It can get busy especially on weekends. Clean and neat restaurant.
Good ramen & variety for the right prices. Ordered the gyoza and shoyu - super tasty and recommend.
Gyoza was good. Wonton Ramen did not hit the spot for me, wish there was a piece of Char Siu too.
I will go here again and again until I try the entire menu. The food was delicious. Everything looked so yummy.
Might have to wait a while to get in but had really amazing Tonkatsu Tan Tan Ramen and service despite being completely full. Gyoza shouldn’t have came in plastic container and taste of Gyoza was just ok.
Went into this restaurant with my wife, her mom, and my wifes baby brother. The wait wasn't long. As soon as we walked into the restaurant, we got seated right away. The atmosphere is really nice, not noisy at all, unless you start hearing a baby crying or something. Our server was very attentive. He got to us in 2 minutes of sitting to put our orders in. When our orders got put in it came back out in 5 minutes, I was surprised how fast that came out. Everyone enjoyed their meals. The pricing isn't that much at all, and the portion size is huge, so if you're a small portion eater, it is best to share, or else you'll be going home with leftovers. Will definitely be coming back here again. Kid-friendliness: The restaurant is very kid friendly. When I was dining here, the parents brought in their kids, and they also had options for your kids. Just remember, portion sizes are big.
The server was great, but the ramen was subpar. Basically, you shouldn't still feel hungry after you've eaten ramen. There we're not enough noodles. The char siu was nice and thick, but dry and flavorless.
