One of the most unprofessional experience I have ever had with a law firm. I approached the firm via their website and probably spent 30 minutes writing details of the case, providing as much details as possible for the initial consultation and guidance on whether my case was one they could represent or not. The paralegal who contacted me back seemed highly switched off. He had not read my message at all / taken down any notes or had any questions for me - which was very frustrating to start with. Anyways, I tried to explain my potential case once again. I had just discussed the first point out of four, where he cut me in the middle and asked for my full name / date of birth / street address / zip code - telling me he needs this information so he can check with a partner to see whether I have a case or not. Within less than a minute he informed me that as per their partner, they cannot represent my case - which is fine by me. However, I am still wondering on what grounds my personal details were the basis of the decision by the partner? Shouldn’t it be the case details which could have been reviewed and/or discussed in full to determine that? More importantly, I am also wary that why he asked for my personal details and whether it is ok for a firm to ask these details at first place?

I called these lawyers after I was sexually assaulted and was looking for someone to help me. The paralegal who answered was respectful and sympathetic and I felt like they really cared even though they couldn't take my case. Thank you!!!
