Not a big selection of furniture and in general a really small store but nicely designed. Only one couch, but a big selection of decor, rugs and other stuff like food and clothes. The store is currently half filled with hello kitty-items. It’s also not as packed as other stores like Marshall’s or TJ maxx so the experience is nicer. Currently they have some good discounts! 50% off of books and toys.
I agree that the store is, in fact, small. I would suggest calling in advance to check their inventory for specific items. My rating, however, is reflective of the welcoming and accommodating staff. I was warmly greeted at the door and proactively offered assistance with items I needed. When they didn't have something in stock, Kim was super helpful in offering to order it online. She was particularly helpful with my handling multiple packages from them and their sister-store next door Bed Bath and Beyond. Lastly, she had great news that a new, much larger store was is scheduled to open in Brooklyn in November. In summary, this conveniently-located is best when you have something specific in mind and you call in advance. For meandering, I recommend a fully-stocked location.
I was sooo excited for our first World Market to open, and I was daydreaming about all the fun kitchen, gift and food items I could finally buy in person instead of having to order online. So I was pretty let down when all I saw was furniture, lighting and rugs. And yes, a few boring throw pillows, dish sets and candle holders. I wish the space were bigger so it could accommodate more inventory overall, but I would definitely choose to have their smaller items in stock rather than the large furniture pieces. The styling of the space was very nice and the staff was lovely. But they clearly want this location to be a showroom for their furniture rather than a place for fun, casual shopping. Bummer.
World Market stores are usually large and have tons of wonderful home goods. Unfortunately this is just a tiny outpost of one of their regular stores. Very limited stock and nothing compared to the selection you can get on their website. The tiny space is designed well, however, and the staff is very friendly. Just save your comprehensive shopping for online or a larger store.
I love world market however this particular location got rid of half their already limited product to make room for a bunch of hello kitty stuff. Everyone loves a lil hello kitty here and there - but found it a lil strange, out of place and most of all super overwhelming. Way too much. They got rid of so much product to make room for this. I didn't even realize there was such a market demand for this in a home goods matkwt.... I left empty handed and frustrated for the first time ever in my 7 years of being a customer.
I went to Cost Plus Market in search of a miniature zen garden for a school project. I spoke with an employee the day before I went over the phone and she said she was sure they had it in stock. I come in the next day, its not a big store so I made my rounds searching for it. With no luck, I asked an employee who was on the floor. She told me if it was not in the garden section then it was not there. so instead helping me search for it, I went in the garden section once more by myself to see if maybe I didn't see it the first time. after I didn't see it the second time, I asked her again if she could check anywhere else. I was getting desperate because I really need this for school and I traveled a long way to this place because a lot of stores do not sell what I am looking for. Once she told me there was no where else it would be and that they sold out, I was very upset and I refused to leave until I was absolutely sure. There was only two other employees and they both were on the register. There was a long line and I waited twenty minutes until it was my turn . I asked the lady if she had a zen garden and right away she responded, "Oh yes we definitely have them I saw them a few minutes ago." She left the register to help me and while walking she asked the lady I just spoke to and she said, "You didn't see the zen garden?" which the lady responded with, "We dont have any."and then she responded with, "Yes we do its right here." She handed it to me and rang it up. She helped me and found the item all within 1 minute. The employees need to be knowledgeable of the products they have and be more helpful with customers. The only reason I am not giving it 1 star is because the lady that I waited twenty minutes for helped me in the end.
Lapin and I came to this outpost looking for picture frame hooks. I am familiar with the brand but this location is very very small. They have a couple of furniture pieces, lamps, rugs, and knick knacks. The lines can be long but they usually have three cashiers on staff. I wish the store was a bit bigger!!
I was so frustrated today. I went in after spending time online finding the right gift item on the website. After years of wonderful experiences at World Market locations across the country, this was honestly the worst location I've visited. If you are looking for 99% of the company's products, don't waste your time. It was such a let-down. If shopping for World Market products in NYC, just buy it online. Don't even bother with the store.
The staff at World Market on 6th Ave are super helpful and welcoming. I called to check their stock of the Asher II bar cart, and the representative offered to ship the item to my home address free of charge since they were out of stock at their location. On anther occasion the management staff was very helpful during a return. Customer for life.
It's a fun place to shop for home decor. I sometimes get sucked in buying stuff I don't need. The staff is super friendly, Download any coupons before you get into store, internet is tough to get.
