I've been at the Residences of Custom House, St. Paul, for two months. I love it. PEOPLE: Let's start with how amazing the team is - Janelle, Molli, and Caleb are wonderful people. They are all intelligent, funny, kind, and quick to help in every way you can imagine, from area recommendations in banking to helping me with heavy packages. I have honestly felt genuinely cared for by them, which means so much to me. The residents I've met here have already become friends and happy hour mates. VIEWS: My view is breathtaking day and night. I can see the pool, rooftop deck, river, jets getting off the ground, and the bluffs. NEATO SPACES: The pet spa is brilliant and fun to use. I also love the working spaces, the outdoor bar, and the lovely sizeable social gathering areas. LOVE IT: My family loves to visit; my friends feel happy to stay. I'm calm and work well here. It was a great choice to move in.
My family moved into the Custom house Memorial weekend of this year; we may never leave. The building is lovely. The renovation was done enhancing the historic beauty of the building. The amenities make it feel like hotel living. Our living space brings me all the good feelings. The views the Mississippi and downtown St Paul are spectacular. The staff are very receptive and make me feel at home. I’d highly recommend making the Custom house your home.
I am on the 15 th floor with views South, East and West. I can see all 4 St Paul bridges. I often wonder where else in the World could I see a major train Depot, be directly above the iconic Mississippi River, Holman airfield across the river, plus be able to see Friday night Fireworks during the summer from CHS Field.
Moved in a few months ago. Everything has been as promised. Very quiet hallways and cannot hear upstairs neighbors. Very clean spaces. Very nice handyman. Very nice staff. I would want more access to outdoor space in winter but does not appear to be shoveled. Otherwise both of us feel like we would stay here until we retire South.
My husband and I have been living at Custom House for about seven months and cannot speak highly enough about our experience! We moved from out-of-state, so I did a lot of research about St. Paul apartments, especially in the downtown/lowertown area. We also toured several apartments nearby. We would 100% choose Custom House again. Pros: - The apartment itself is spacious and beautiful! We love the big windows, high ceilings, and white finishes. We look out to the city, which is an awesome view. I know there are many different floor plans, so I can't speak to them all, but our one-bedroom is our favorite apartment we've ever lived in. - The amenities are fantastic and put Custom House far and beyond the other apartment buildings in the area. There's a pool / hot tub and outdoor patio / grill / fire pit / hangout area, which is so fun in the summertime. There are two workout rooms, one with machines and one with huge mirrors and open space. They are clean and updated although we wish there was a free weight power rack. There are multiple conference rooms that are so well decorated think Great Gatsby style/1920s and fun spaces to be in, especially if you work from home and need a change of scenery or if you want to host a party in a bigger space. - We have never heard our neighbors. Because it's an old building, there are a lot of concrete walls which minimizes noise, if not completely eliminates it, for the most part. - The management team is SO kind, communicative, and professional. They are organized and responsive. Our maintenance requests have been addressed within 24 hours, and we've never hesitated to reach out about a problem if one arises. They also plan social events for residents about once a month which is a fun way to meet your neighbors! - Heated garage parking. There are three floors for parking, and we park on the main floor. It is super convenient, and we haven't had any safety issues we do have friends who park on one of the lower garage floors, and their locked-up bikes were stolen; I'm not sure if there's anything Custom House could do to prevent that. - Close to a light rial station. My husband takes the light rail to work every day, which is extremely convenient. - Close to the Excel Center and lowertown, so we can walk to concerts and sporting events. Cons: - There isn't a ton of restaurants / coffee places / shops / etc. in the immediate surroundings. We thought there would be more hustle and bustle, activities, and hoppin restaurants, and there's not. But that also might be a pro for some people! It's just a quieter area than what we expected. - There's a homeless warming shelter right next to the building, and paired with living downtown in a city, it doesn't always feel super safe. During the daytime I feel pretty comfortable walking by myself, but I would never be out by myself when it's dark or late. That being said, the building feels very safe and there are multiple checkpoints where you need a key to get in. The hotel also provides a valet service, which is nice because there's almost always a valet worker stationed at the front doors. Overall, we love Custom House and highly recommended living here!
I truly love where I live. My home life is separate from my work in Mpls. I just wish we had more guest parking to allow us to more freely literally invite people to enjoy St. Paul/Lowertown.
I made custom house my home in May of 2022 and I absolutely love it here! The staff is always very friendly and extremely responsive and helpful with anything that may come up!
I have been living here for a month and I am very happy, all the staff are very friendly and it is an excellent place to live. highly recommended.
We recently moved into Custom House and we love it! The staff is helpful and friendly, or neighbors have been welcoming, and the community spaces are delightful and we really enjoy the historic architecture and Art Deco decor.
