Been trying to Google information, but it says they're temporarily closed, which it's not because I know for a fact my daughters school is over there rn for a class trip..so I don't understand why they haven't updated their information..
This is an easy walk from the 2 and 5 train lines. The theater itself is cozy. No refreshments vendor but their are snack machines. Try to use the restroom before intermission. The lines will be ridiculous
Looks like a school that has been turned into a theater. Seats are very small and the rows seem very tight. The seats do not have cushion, think of a HS auditorium with the wooden seats. Every seat is a good seat, which works in your favor because I think it is first come first seated at most events. Street parking so you may have to ride around to find a spot. Several eating places in the area.
Show was good, but a few couple of issues with the theater. Will call line was chaotic even with 2 people behind the desk. I went in to get our seats while my husband parked the car. When he came inside there was a line outside the door so showed the security guard my tickets and asked could he come through the other door being that I had already been inside and got tickets and our seats. The guard tells me no and now he had to stand on that long line until people waiting for will-call tickets to get in made it to the front of the line. Also they have vending machines with snacks and drinks for purchase but no sign anywhere that says that you can't bring them inside the theater so during intermission I purchased three bags of potato chips and a bottle of water for myself and the other two people that were there with me and was told that I couldn't take them inside I would have to stand in the lobby and eat them. Either put signs up letting people know that or don't allow people to buy from the vending machines.
The stage is small. Seats are new but cramped for a large or over weight person. Sometimes the room is a little warm. The armrest is only for one person. What can you do though. It's a small room and needs to pack as many people in as possible. The sound system makes static once in a while. Don't know if that is the sound engineer or the equipment they brought or the equipment there? Bathroom is is a two minute walk. The room is nice looking otherwise. The art work in the walls is interesting.
We are using this venues auditorium for our pre-school stepping up ceremony. It's very clean, the seats are comfortable its air conditioned and the bathrooms are clean as well. The staff is accommodating too. I dont know anything about any other services offered there but feel free to call or visit to find out what other services are available
Ok I appreciate the fact this theater is in Harlem and keeps the stage experience alive within the local community but there are things sorely lacking in the architecture of the building. 1. It's not wheelchair accessible 2. The bathrooms are very far. 3. The sound system needs a desperate upgrade.4. The dressing rooms need bathrooms in close proximity. However, like I said this theater is a gift to the community but needs sponsorship going forward.
Sound and stage was good. The theater is inside a school so those out of school could use a little more room in the seats. Besides that we had a Great Night!
A play there Easter weekend Is a Hit a must see the play is Great but the in house Staff gave the theater Company Crazy. Problems. Thats why the shows a hit cause with all the problems this theater gave this Company. They were Great pulling off a Beautiful. Show
Love the atmosphere. I wrnto see a play and it was really good. Their were definitive signs that led you to your seat. The staff were friendly and helpful. I am definitely coming back for more shows
