Went in with severe tooth and jaw pain was first told I had to wait three months, and then was given the option of an emergency tooth pain appointment limited to ONE TOOTH I rhem had to wait another month for THAT appointment. When I'm finally seen the Dentist --who was very cold and impersonal and bordering on patronizing-- does all intake things xrays etc., and after all the poking and proding at my sore mouth I was informed I would need to come back. The next appointment was in THREE MONTHS I get in and they clean my teeth ignore the rotting teeth and inform me I need to havee my last wisdom tooth out. A month later i get that out and then get schedules again three months out at that appointment the doctor who has been pushing their pure gold crowns like a door to door salesman tells me she won't extract if of a root canal is possible. But injury doesn't cover the MINE HUNDRED DOLLAR piece of gold. They use these strictly and wont use stainless steal what my insurance covers so what happens? I have to wait another month geeze how did that haplen??? Finally ten and a half months after I called them crying because my teeth hurt I get to have the tooth pulled afternuts nearly disintegrated in my mouth breaking three times in that 10 month period. This Dentist should be your last resort ever! The oral surgeon is not too bad tho i liked him.
We booked two appointments with the Gateway facility. The first one they cancelled because the dentist wouldn't be in, although we had waited nearly two months for this opening. However they didn't notify us of the cancellation until the day of, and they were very sure they had called us the week before which they hadn't. Then we scheduled a second appointment a month after the original cancellation just for them to give our appointment away without us being notified until we were there for it. And they had no explanation as to why this happened. Today I went to the Broadway facility where they scheduled her appointment because we decided to use a different office and after making me sit in the waiting room for 30min they told me they couldn't see our daughter because they didn't have a pediatric department. Why did they make the appointment in the first place if they could see her birthday on record. Severely disappointed in this company.
I've been a patient at this clinic off an on from teenager to now, being 27 years old. In my expierence, this clinic has been more bad then good for me. I was born with bad teeth, having had my four front teeth surgically removed before they even came in, and yes, I take responsibility in my part that I didnt take proper care of my teeth at a certain part of my life. However, they have always treated me poorly in that aspect, repeatingly telling me its my fault and I should of taken care of my teeth better. This in no way gives them the right to belittle me and treat me like I dont matter because its "my fault my teeth are the way they are." The receptionist is always rude, in my last expierence I called for an emergency appointment. The receptionist told me they couldnt get me in till the 4th of September two weeks away I asked if there was anyway I could get some pain meds to hold me off till then or can I get in sooner, I could not wait that long. She then told me they couldnt perscribe me anything because I hadnt been seen since May but they could see me Tuesday at 8am. I asked her if I by chance showed up alittle late would I still be seen an she replied "no." I tried to explained to her I'am a single mother with no car and would be on public transportation, on top of the fact that my family sisters and mother all work or go to school so it can be difficult to find a sitter at times. Her responce was "well its not like you can hold your baby while your getting work done," I was so shock by her rude remark! I think I know I cant hold my 6 month old while Iam getting work done. Needless to say I am in the process of finding another clinic! And on another note, this is the type of clinic that would rather pull a tooth then fix it. So unless you want to have close to no teeth in a matter of a few months or you just want a tooth removed I wouldnt go to this office. Very rude staff, very poor work! Take my advise and find another clinic.
Three visits to Dental Care Today A+ and I'm free of dental worries for awhile. Today was my last. I can't say "I loved it" because I don't love going to the dentist but I've had plenty of bad experiences with dentists/offices/etc that I want to give this one a 5 star rating because everything went very well. First off I had one clinic I could go with my low income insurance OHP, and Dental Care Today 35th/Broadway so I just had to take what I could get. A+ all around! Well their business cards are horrible but any money they save in perks probably keeps costs down. Lol. I can say this since my profession is printing business cards and the like. Sometimes it comes down to who you get. Both of my assistants were awesome. Dr. Patel my dentist superb and does excellent work! And my dental hygienist Robin was great too. robin had 40 years of work in the field, though her real passion is Chinese herbs and art! The Receptionist was also great, no problems, even recognized me on my third visit so I didn't even have to say anything when I came in. The layout is open room with little rooms but very comfortable. I couldn't hear anything else going on. And no waiting around. All three of my appointments started right away 2 were 4 in the afternoon and I never waited for the dentist. Dr. Patel even smoothed out one of my rough fillings from before. Finding a good affordable dentist is so hard. Green Apple and Willamette Dental both were not good experiences in my past. OHSU very good but time consuming. Also what I like about the low income dental clinic is they weren't trying to make me sign up for more expensive work I don't need this second. So as far as they and I'm concerned, no more dental procedures are needed at this time. What a relief! They take walk-ins and may be the most affordable dental in town. I hope this helps some of you!
For some reason no matter how many times I explained which tooth I was having a problem with, they could not get top and bottom, left and right straight. This was very concerning to me. Fortunately, as of this month I am on university health care so I no longer qualify for OHP, so I'm trying to get my dental records, including X-rays, transferred to the university dentist. Someone at Dental Care Today apparently thought that mailing a paper photocopy of my X-rays was an appropriate response, so my new dentist asked me to call them to straighten things out. Today, I had the unexpected experience of Dental Care Today questioning whether I *really* have a right to my own dental records, since OHP paid for them. I will be filing a complaint with the Oregon Health Authority.
I will only see Caitlin Han at Dental Care Today. I had such a terrible dentist as a child that I was terrified to ever see a dentist again. I got in with Dr. Han and she was amazing! If she even thinks you're in pain she will stop and check on you, see if you need numbed more... etc. I can actually say that I am not afraid to go to the dentist anymore. I can't speak for the other dentists at this location, but Caitlin Han is wonderful!
I've now been to Dental Care Today 3 times. I sadly don't remember names of people who saw me. The two hygienists that I saw were ok, one was a bit to sarcastic for my tastes and the other one was sweet / had pop / hiphop music playing which I loved. The sarcastic one had more ambient music and was also nice but.. yeah, sarcastic Both hygienist could have been A LOT more attentive with suction etc and paying attention to where they were putting implements in my mouth. --They poked my gums/cheeks painfully a few times. --All in all I'll give the hygienists 3 stars. Now for the dentist: I the regular dentist at this location is on maturity leave. The person I saw to get some filling last week I think did decent work but was HORRIBLE when it came to her "bed side manner" Both her and the dental assistant hardly talked to me at all, It was like all they cared about was my mouth and not that I was a living breathing human like them. They constantly jabbed my gums and cheeks painfully, didn't suction enough, totally didn't want to answer my questions. To top it off: They were both VERY sick and coughing iCONSTANTLY and I now can feel myself coming down with a cold that feels like it is going to be pretty bad. Yes, they were wearing those little masks but come on!! They obviously don't do any good... they BOTH should have called in sick and rescheduled all the patients for the day. --And yah yah, I hate having appointments rescheduled but, I'd rather have that then get sick for a week or more. They both also were talking WAY to much about their personal life's, their stress level etc. --All well my mouth was wedged open and I couldn't say a word.
Waited a month for an appointment and then got called 3 hours beforehand telling me the dentist was sick and they need to reschedule next month. Seems from other reviews like this is something they do regularly.
Its always nice when u have to wait 2n a1/2 months for an apointment then only to have them call you the day before and say hey btw the dentist is out sick so u must re schedule for a month n a hlf away from now,..AGAIN.wtf!!?? so over a qrtr of a yr later Im gunna come in so u can fix my tooth?GL.
This place is such a joke!! I have been waiting for two months to get in and they call this morning say doctor is sick and appointment cancelled. I understand people get sick but this is the kicker... Next Appointment offered was on November 20th today is September 9th. How does that even sound like customer service I'm ashamed that I have been forced to work with from OHP.
