Story

The Basement provides the perfect atmosphere for a variety of events. Basically, the hangout spot we used to have at 1408 Locust is back. Except this time, we are in the basement of a renovated historic firehouse. Pretty rad. Our unique and versatile event venue has a full bar and stage. Events.
The Basement is home to an eclectic mix of recurring events like trivia nights, dance parties, live music, and comedy. However, this is just a taste of what The Basement has to offer. Expect to be entertained far beyond the traditional bar setting. You can even rent the space for your own event or private party.

Even More Drinks.
A refreshed bar features Iowa craft beers, handcrafted cocktails, and a “couple of steps above dive bar” wine list. We also have a special cocktail menu for your imbibing pleasure.

Plus, the Rooftop!
The firehouse has one of the most picturesque views of downtown Des Moines. So, naturally we want to party up there. We’ll have even more events on the Rooftop Patio during the summer and tables/chairs/umbrellas for lounging.
