Dim Sum House by Jane G's

This is one of my favorite spots in University City. When I first went to Dim Sum House, I had never before tried soup dumplings. Since then, I have tried them at a couple places, including one in New York's China Town, and I find the offerings at Dim Sum House to be comparable. You can find different meats in the dumplings and dim sum and there are plenty of vegetarian offerings as well. Great place to go with a group as most of the dishes are better shared. Popular with college students, and there's a live band on some nights. Not a fan of the whole fish dishes. The tastes OK, but I will not reorder those dishes. I also find it strange that many similar restaurants keep their fish aquariums in plain sight... it's fresh alright :)

Just went for the first time yesterday, it's a little hard to find because of the crazy construction on Chestnut The food was fast, very reasonably priced and great tasting!! I can't wait to go back or host a large event as the space is beautiful and HUGE! Our favorites were the soup dumplings, the egg custard buns and the turnip cakes! 😍😍🤤

I love dim sum. Just the whole concept of being with friends and Asian style eating (shared food for the table) is my favorite. And I don't think I've had dim sum as good as I have at Jane G's. The food was spectacular. I loved everything. Perfectly cooked, perfectly seasoned, temperature, variety, everything. My group was pretty big so we lucked out and got the booth in the back. (I love booths). And shout out to our waiter (I'm sorry I forgot his name) who remembered our WHOLE order (which was like 20+things) without writing anything down and continued to impress us with how well he took care of us. That guy was awesome. And if you think I used the word "love" too much then I hope that tells you just how great this place is.

Very good service! The hostess and waiter were very attentive. The restaurant has a huge selection of items and a beautiful menu with pictures to help you choose. The shrimp and chive dumplings and the scallion pancakes are yummy! The dan dan needed a bit of salt but were also good. They have an awesome happy hour and the restaurant is nicely decorated.

I thought it was pretty good. It's nice to eat dumps in a restaurant with a nice bar for a change. Spicy soup dumplings were all spice and no flavor which was not for me.
